Three weeks ago I went back to work after my summer layoff and I have had more separation anxiety than Ellie--she seems to have adapted to the new routine just fine. I think she likes getting up and getting her breakfast earlier than when we are more laid back during the summer. I got her some interactive toys--she loves her Babble Ball that makes animal noises, and she seems to take it in stride that I will be back later. As for me, I miss her terribly and wish I could take her to work with me. If I were King at work, I would allow people to bring their dogs as long as they were well-behaved and not destructive. I think people would be more productive having their best friend with them instead of wondering what they are doing at home while patiently waiting for their return. There is getting to be more of a trend towards 4-day work weeks now, which is supposed to give employees more days off to relax and take care of home, which in turn is supposed to help productivity. I'm all good with that, but let's make a case for bringing your pet to work to lower stress levels and have happier employees. Just one Corgi (even if it's not yours) could make the whole office a much nicer and happier place. Of course, I understand this would only work with specific job environments, but it sounds like a winner to me.
