Charlie

"Charlie is a handsome 13 yr old male tri-colored Pembroke welsh corgi who is looking for a new furever home. He was dumped in a local shelter after 13 yrs old ownership. Charlie almost died as a result of his owners leaving him. He spent several days so depressed that I thought I would lose him. He is now in a quiet foster home with someone who is letting him spend his days on a warm doggie bed. Unfortunately, she can't keep Charlie, and he is looking for a permanent place. If you have room in your heart and home for this wonderful senior, please contact Debbie at debwolfecorgis@gmail.com or fill out the application below."

Someone is seeing if they qualify to adopt him:D

I hope that only something like some major family catastrophe, like a death or severe illness, could lead someone to abandon a dog after so long.  It would be interesting to know the details.

John, you probably don't want to know. I see this a lot. Senior dogs and cats end up in the shelter for many reasons. Sometimes it is the owner dying or going into assisted living. More often it's the same reasons that younger animals are dropped off. It seems the most common reasons given are landlord, moving, and allergies. Take any of those with a grain of salt. Homelessness or the inability to afford the dog's care are becoming more common.

What you DO want to know is that there are people who adopt these elderly dogs, and give them good homes for the last months or years of their lives. Looking back does us no good. It's finding the homes that makes the job worthwhile :)

What state is this boy in?

He is such a handsome little guy! I hope that whoever gives him a forever home loves him to the fullest.

Good news: He has a furever home:)
