Inspired by a new puppy named Abbey http://mycorgi.com/photo/friends-and-dear-abbey-is-home-011?context...
Dear Abby, Dear Abby, please answer my mail,
My ears are too big, and I don't have a tail,
My legs are so short, I'm just 6 inches tall,
The world is so big, and I'm feelin' so small.

New Puppy, New Puppy, you have no complaint,
You are what you are, and you ain't what you ain't,
Now listen up, Buster, and listen up good,
Start wishing for dog food and knockin' on wood.
(signed) Dear Abby
Dear Abby, Dear Abby, please hear my concerns,
They won't let me dig holes or roll in dead worms.
I can't bark or bite, or chew on their shoes,
There's so many rules, and I'm feeling confused.

New Puppy, New Puppy, you have no complaint,
You are what you are, and you ain't what you ain't.
Learn all the rules, and learn 'em up good.
Train the people to love you. Keep knockin' on wood.

Dear Abby, Dear Abby, Now what do you think?
Whenever I poop, they raise a big stink.
They get all excited whenever I pee.
Is it something with them, or something with me?
(signed) New Puppy
New Puppy, New Puppy, you have no complaint,
You are what you are, and you ain't what you ain't.
You won't be the best, and you won't be the worst,
Whenever you go, you should go outside first.
(signed) Dear Abby
Dear Abby, Dear Abby, I'm writing to say,
I'm all grown-up now and I'm happy today.
My new home is almost too good to be true,
I've taught them to love me, and I love them too.
(signed) New Puppy
New Puppy, New Puppy, you're on the right track,
When you love somebody, they love you right back.
Whatever you do, wherever you roam,
There's nuthin' like family, there's no place like home.

John, Sounds pretty good to me.
I would like to have a last verse when the puppy writes back and says that everything is great and there is lots of love for him, etc. I guess I like happy endings!

Dear Abby, Dear Abby, I'm just writing to say
I'm all grown up now, its a brand new day.
These humans were tough, but I've trained them up fine,
And I'm so proud and happy to call them mine.
LOVE that! That is what I wanted. A happy ending.
Plus, I love that the dog trained the people!
Good idea. This started with a recent post by someone names Ann(e) who just brought home a puppy named Abbey. I can't find her post now.
Good ending, John.
"Whatever you do, wherever you roam,

Looks good. So do you play the guitar with this?
I showed your pictures to my husband and we decided you looked like Pete Seeger. Do you sound like him as well?
If I still tormented the banjo, I would try to sound like Pete Seeger. Here's links to John Prine playing "Dear Abby", "Paradise", and "Late John Garfield Blues":
If you look up the old Jimmy Rogers song, "Texas Blues", that's where we stole "Little Dog Blues" from.
