Welcome Justice -   now named Copper!

Pictured here is Connie and our newest addition, Justice.

Edited to add we have decided to call him Copper. Connie and Copper sound so good together!

Justice's family had to relocate and were not able to take him along. We've known each other for years so it made sense that Justice would come stay with us. So, the more the merrier (and barkier!). He's the same age as Connie (both are rescues from SoCal), they have the same mannerisms and same ball drive. So far so good, he's doing well. Keeping fingers crossed for a smooth transition.

So now at Castle Sterling we have Bruce (corgi mix rescue, age 18), Sidney (red/white tailed Pem, age 6), Connie (red headed tri rescue, age 4) and Justice - now Copper -  (black headed tri rescue, age 4). And three less than thrilled kittycats (Pippin, Sally and Basil).

I think Bruce is quite the handsome guy in that picture!

Many years ago we adopted an Elkhound puppy from the SPCA.  We only had him about 2 days and he got horribly sick.  Took him to the vet and it turned out he had parvo.  They were treating him for that and then called to tell me he also had distemper..his fever was extremely high.  Unfortunately it was not be having him spend his life with us.  Then I found out that parvo and distemper were going thru the shelter and the SPCA never told anyone who was adopting a dog. I had notified the shelter and apparently others who went thru the experience did too.  Not one offer came from the shelter to refund even a part of the adoption fee.  It was very badly run at that time, thankfully it is better today.

We think Bruce is mixed with Norwegian Elkhound. He's so funny looking!

This is my favorite photo of  Bruce (the corgi mix). We rescued him from the shelter at Camp Pendleton 10 years ago. Both their vet and our vet pegged his age as "10 or 11" at the time.  He's so awesome, still has great energy though he can't do walks anymore. He's so sweet.

How nice! Can't believe you have a Corgi mix that's 18 yrs old.  That says a lot too about how you care for your animal family.

Justice is a lucky dog and very handsome.  Well done.
