I would say that 8 out of 10 people who come across Ofelia on the sidewalk don't know what the heck she is. Which is fine by me. I sometimes confuse her for a tasmanian devil myself. My nephew's friends think she's either a chihuahua or a dachshund or something in between. They also think she looks like a wolf. Which I think is a stretch. But I do agree when people say she has a german shepherd's face. When they ask, I just say corgi, because saying "Pembroke Welsh Corgi" sounds a little snotty to them. But sometimes I get a funny face when I say corgi.

Anyway, does anybody have similar experiences with your corgis or mixes? Or with any of your dogs if you have others?

Oh yes, the imfamous "what is that?" question. I get that a lot too. Lol! They said "What's that?" and I go "She's a welsh corgi!" and they say "A what?" and I go "A Pembroke Welsh Corgi!" and then some people go "Oh yeah! The Queen's dog huh?" or they just flat out don't even know how to say corgi. They say "corkie" or "borgi" everything but Corgi. Lol!
There is probably only 1 out of every 129381283182301823 people that see Vladimir and actually know what he is! I get stopped and asked all the time, "What is that?"
I don't think they know Vladimir is even a dog! They seriously think he is a horse and are not joking. Or they ask me "Is that a long haired greyhound?" or a "shaved afghan" or even more weirder, "Is that a saluki?"
It seems to me more people would know what a borzoi is than a saluki!!! That's just very odd to me....

Or some people just stare and follow me a bit and stare and follow and sometimes get the courage to ask or sometimes some are definite of what they think he is. They look at him and nod all firmly and say, "Greyhound." or something or other....
Some people, they make me laugh - haha! It's hard to be humble when you own a borzoi!
I have had alot of people ask me if Ein is a Jack Russle Terrior. When I tell them that he is a pembroke welsh corgi, people usually think he is a mix breed or something.
Yessssss!! I get so much attention when I'm walking Kobi on the sidewalk-- there have been about 3 or 4 people that have recognized what he is.

I love having an unusual looking puppy.

:)
I said Corgi to someone once and they thought I said Yorkie. Then they went on to tell me about their sisters Yorkie. I didn't have the heart to correct them.

Today at the corgi meet I ran into a little girl out side of the puppy playground gate.

"Awww look it looks kind of like a Chihuahua!"
"He's a Corgi."
"He looks like a Chihuahua."
(knowing that Banzai is 100% PURE BRED) "No...he looks like a corgi."

I said this in the nicest way possible but as the little girl ran off to catch up with her parents she shouts back "A CHIHUAHUA!" I was a little irked but felt better when I heard her parents shouting at her for being rude. You know not all big eared dogs in Florida are freaking Chihuahuas. -_-
The little girl might have seen those hollywood chihuahua commercials. They're fond of shouting that since that movie. <_< Good of the parents to let her know its not appropriate.
Yet another Disney film that is going to fill up the shelters with an "unwanted breed." I remember when they did 101 Dalmatians live action. Shelters filled up with Dalmatians because stupid parents didn't understand the breed, and got them for their kids.
I hear stuff like that all the time! "what is that?" "is that some kind of corgi mix?" "looks like a pit bull/weiner dog" "what a cute little mutt".
He really leaves people wondering. haha.
What i am especially surprised at though is that the Pembroke Corgi owners i meet that think my Cardigan is a mix! Like they didn't know a different kind of corgi exsisted! hehe
LOL i am always asked if Zero is a german shepherd/jack russell mix. What the heck is that? lol bu ya when u just say corgi ppl look at u like ur crazy!
Yeah they do. They get a big dumb look on their face like 'huh, what is that?' It makes me wonder if people think that I am making it up. No, he is not a "designer breed," AKA expensive mutt.
I was at Petsmart tonight and 2 out of 2 people knew Lance was a corgi. One lady knew because she watches her neighbors corgi. The other was a petsmart associate. The both knew he was a corgi, but not a cardigan corgi! When people say is that a corgi, of course my response is yes and then I automatically ask if the dog they are referring to is a corgi with a tail or without and they always say without the tail and then I tell them Lance is a cardigan corgi. It is so much fun to have a unique dog. : )
I'm happily surprised when people do know she's a Corgi, and they're usually excited to actually see one. Plus it does save me the trouble of figuring out whether to say "Pembroke Welsh Corgi" or just Corgi, since they always say "a what?" when I use the full name. And then do I say something like, the Queen has them, to try and jog any recollection. I never had anyone think she was a mix though.
