This morning we learned the sad news that the McLean County Animal Shelter burned to the ground during the night. All of the cats and dogs inside were killed in the fire. There were, however, 14 dogs in the indoor/outdoor runs who survived. These dogs are listed on the shelter's website:
http://search.petfinder.com/shelterSearch/shelterSearch.cgi?shelter...

These poor dogs have been through a terrible tragedy and now have nowhere to go now.

If you can help with any of the dogs or with funds for getting them to rescues, please call McLean County shelter director Misty at (270) 499-2556. If you cannot reach her, you can also contact the Daviess County animal control director Ashley Clark.

Thanks for your help,

Contact PetSmart Charities @ http://petsmartcharities.org. They have supplies and other items that may be of help.
Thank you!!! I will definitely pass this information onto them.
Update: Kentucky State Police say the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction.

They say 16 dogs and two cats were already rescued.

You can also call the McLean County Judge's office at 270-273-3123 to make a donation.

Robin Long, the humane society's president says the humane society is also in need of dog food and will need donations to help rebuild.
Thank you for the update. I have forwarded both responses onto someone who is involved in helping organize this and located in Kentucky.
