Thunder has had a chip since he was 6 months old and today it was how he got back home.
Thanksgiving evening he was out for the last time and just flat disappeared. This is not like him as he is rather on the cautious side and stays very near home while waiting for one of us to go out and be with him.
Apparently something got his attention for when my husband went out to join him he was not there and did not come home all night. A first for him.
Since we live in a very wooded area we thought the worse as there are rumors of coyotes in the area.
This morning a call was received from the chip company that he had been found and was fine.
We still do not know what or who took him, but he may have chased a deer or been chased by some other animal or picked up and when chip was found dumped.
This animal never went near the road in his 4 1/2 yrs. Something very different occured last night, but he is not talking.
He was none the worse for the adventure and now he is not put out to wait for us, but waits and goes out with us.
Thank heavens for the chip
All dogs should have them in this day and age of nutty things happening.

Oh, I'm glad he made it home! I bet you guys were worried sick! That definitely makes me want to get Grover chiped!
OMG! you must of been so worried. I don't know what I would do if I lost Koa. Hold Thunder close to you and love him to pieces! I am glad that you have him back
I'm so glad Thunder got home safely! You must have been so worried. Our dogs are all chipped (the cats too) and it gives great peace of mind.
I always thought this was an over reaction of nervous dog owners. I'm going to talk to my vet about it next time we go. I will mentally apoligize for all those thoughts. (Sorry!) Glad Thunder is back with you!
