Do you trust your dog groomer?
Have you seen the news out of Knoxville, TN, about a groomer who has had several dogs die in his care?
So, what about it, readers? Did you do any sort of a background check before hiring a groomer? Have you had any problems?

I live in Knoxville and there is now a lawsuit over this incident as there should be. This guy, if indeed guilty as it appears, should loose his license and his freedom for a long time to come. People have been up in arms over this and the other three incidents of where thier loved ones have died while under his care. In an article in the Knoxville Journal this past week the BBB had received ten complaints against this place and there's currently three other lawsuits pending besides the latest one. My vet examined Moxie after she was returned from UT hospital and said on TV the cause of death was from blunt force trauma. Tell me I wouldn't be at this guy's house with a wooden baseball bat!! I remain furious over this that nothing has been done yet.
For the most part, I do my own grooming except an occasional nail trimming when I feel I may not be getting close enough but I trust completely the vet and techs where I take Bubba.

I do my own grooming too. Its a great way to bond w/your dog and if kept up with, it isn't that bad. I like to work w/them while they are on the table for stacking and holding the stack. Sometimes I do sit on the floor to groom and do their nails while I watch TV. My guys see the brushes come out and they line up to be groomed and once they are done its hard to get them to move on so I can do the next one. LOL Nothing better then looking at a well groomed dog.

Gosh, I live about 3 hours west of Knoxville and hadn't heard about this! That is just horrible!
As to checking out my groomer, I've always stayed with my dogs and watched them being groomed. I've been lucky in that I've always been able to find small local groomers who don't mind my standing alongside and watching. My groomer now comes to my house in her Groom-mobile. Our little babies can't tell us if someone hurts them so it's up to us to watch them every moment if we possibly can.

What most folks don't realize is that a majority (at least around these parts) are former cosmetologists who think that if they have a set of clippers that makes them a groomer. I had a partner in years past who thought the same thing. I had a client recently who used a local groomer for her Yorkie and the groomer killed it. Just sad. I hope whoever this "groomer" is gets put away for a long time, but since it's about a dog I'm not holding my breath. Sad. Just sad.

This is aweful! I do my own grooming at home, except for the vet getting Grover's nails if we just happen to be in and they are due for a trim. I trust my vet totally and his tech!! They are wonderful. But I can't imagine how horrible that would be to drop your dog off for a simple thing like this and have them be hurt or killed. What a horrible man!
