In the first photo, the left dog's eyes are uncorrected, the right dog's eyes were auto-corrected and it worked indifferently. In the second photo, I pasted a big black dot on each eye, and then a tiny white dot to simulate a reflection. It's kinda crude and laborious, but I often can't get automatic redeye corrections to work well.

Worked good John. I've tried unsuccessfully to eliminate that ghostly green color from Bubba's eyes before I got a flash for the Nikon (SB600) that would bounce the light thus, eliminating the problem. I tried Capture NX2 and PSPX both to no avail. You done good!!
Back when I was a SLR film photographer, I had a top-mounted flash that was far enough away from the lens to avoid red-eye, and it could swivel for bounce flash, and a cord for off-camera flash. I'm sold on digital point-and-shoot cameras because I'm a backpacker who counts ounces (my Canon A75 just died, too much desert dust), but my big complaints are:

camera-mounted flash
nearly impossible to use a polarization filter

I guess you can't have everything in a camera smaller than a cigarette pack.
It is very simple to correct for green and red eye in pets. Download Picnik, an easy editing program (free) and there is correction for furballs (pets). I use it on all my photos except the 1st two which are posted right now (in a hurry so left the eyes slightly green). It works really well and is easy to use.
I have Photoshop and what I do is use the magic wand, click in all the green (or red if you have a blue merle cardi) and use the brightness control to darken and then use the paint bucket set at partially transparent to wash in some brown so the eye color looks more natural.
Oh, so the automatic red eye correction doesn't work if the eyes aren't actually red? Hmm.. I'm going to try it.
Sometimes, there's only so much you can do.....

He is adorable with be one of his eyes is green and one is blue!
