No its not typical for the breed. I have 7 of them and unless I'm starting to smell like them they don't have an odor. Check his mouth for abscess' or his ears...which the groomer should of looked that over as well. I honestly don't know what it could be w/o smelling the odor. Have you questioned the vet on this?

I knew a Pembroke that had a stronger "doggy" smell than some but she was older (9 or 10 years old) so I don't know if that had anything to do with it. My Mom's Cardi has an oder after a while but a bath fixes it. My Cardigan Finn who is almost 5 months old has a stench one in a while but it's not a doggy smell, it's a fishy smell. My fiance thinks it's his rear end but I can't tell and it's not consistent. :) I use the EarthBath doedorizing spray. It comes in a lot of scents but I agree that fruity or flowery smells are overpowering. I would just go for a clean scent. Good luck!

it's the weirdest thing! i was playing with ein just now and the only thing that's stinky is his breath but i mean, that's a given. i smelled him all over and he doesn't stink anymore or should i say like he did yesterday. i was doing laundry and picked up the jeans i was wearing yesterday and they reeked. perhaps it was because we had played all day with another dog that's definitely in need of a grooming. now that he's back in his home his scent has calmed down a lot. he's actually pretty normal smelling. i've noticed that his scent is really strong when he's just come from a walk outdoors. do dogs get sweaty like people or is perhaps his coat holds the "outdoorsy" scent when he comes back in?

I don't think this is common to corgis at all! In fact, our vet commented the last time he saw Scout that Scout "smelled good", not at all "doggy". And Scout was not particularly clean at the time. Our previous corgi had bad mouth odor; that was because she ate cat poop when she found it--and also goose poop she found on walks! Scout does not even have bad breath. I would ask the vet about your problem!

Finn smells "doggy" after a walk too. Once he has rested and cooled off the smell goes away.

Is Ein neutered? Maybe it has something to do with the scent that dogs use to mark with, and it gets worse when he's outside or with another dog. I'm not really sure but it's just an idea.

I do notice that ours can get a little smelly when its hot out (she's in/outdoor), but a bath usually does the trick. Maybe you should try changing his dog food?? That can have a lot to do with his coat. I can tell you that BlueBuffalo is like THE absolute best dog food out there, and she has an awesome coat! No flaking or dryness, just a beautiful, glossy coat:) It really is worth the money.
