DRAGSTER AND A FULL TUMMY OF VALENTINES DAY CHOCOLATES

OMG! if its not one thing it's another!! lol.

Everyone knows Dragster just got over the deer tick disease.

Well last night i went into my room and discovered that he had gotten into 2 boxes of V-day chocolates.

One was a medium size suger-free kind containing 12 peices.
the other was a small one containing 4 peices.
Of course i started freaking out because i know dogs cant have chocolate.

I called HomeAgain- which i have on speed dial now.

They calculated his weight, how many teaspoons he ate, and so forth.

I dont know how he got into them, unless someone let him into my room.

I was gone at school and i came home and mom told me he had thrown up on the rug.

I just cleaned it.. and didnt think about it...

But im glad he does throw up anything that he eats thats foreign because the homeagain lady and I had decided that he probally had eaten it that morning and thrown it up. He acted fine all day.. and when i saw the packages around my room i just freaked.

What a relief!!

I am soooo glad he's okay!!

Does anyone have time to research and see what the effects on dogs might be? I know in humans eating too much will give you "gastro-intestinal distress"

Dogs which have ingested foods containing high levels of xylitol (greater than 100 milligram of xylitol consumed per kilogram of bodyweight) have presented with low blood sugar (hypoglycaemia) which can be life-threatening.[25] Low blood sugar can manifest as loss of coordination, depression, collapse and seizures as soon as 30 minutes after ingestion.[26][27] Intake of very high doses of xylitol (greater than 500 - 1000 mg/kg bwt) has also been implicated in liver failure in dogs, which can be fatal.[28] These are points of controversy, however, as earlier World Health Organization studies using much higher doses on dogs for long periods showed no ill effect.
