Hi, I'm new to the site and don't have a corgi yet, but would like to get a Cardigan for our family. Does anyone know of a reputable Cardi breeder in Southern California? I've been to the CWCCA site and found a breeder in Santa Ana whom we're planning on visiting in the next few weeks, but that seems to be it for the area unless we want to travel up north (which we're happy to do if we have to). Also, has anyone had any great experiences with out of state breeders who ship puppies, and how does that work? Is it possible to do everything you have to do via email and phone without taking a trip to see the the breeder, pup and parents in person?

Since this will be our first dog, we're committed to raising a puppy from a breeder, as opposed to getting a rescue dog (that'll be our second corgi, when we've got some experience!).

Thanks! I look forward to hearing from you all.

Any luck finding a breeder?
Actually, we just found a breeder who's about an hour away. Amazingly, one of her corgis just had puppies two weeks ago! We're planning a family trip to see her in April...we'll keep everyone posted. Thanks for asking!
Thats awesome news! Yes keep us posted! Your Welcome, glad you found a breeder. If you have any questions dont be afraid to ask, finding a good breeder is important. This site is very helpful in helping new corgi owners know what to look for in a good breeder.
Are you going to visit Steve at Aldergate Kennels? I believe Juel from this site is getting a corgi from him and Furpants McGee got a corgi from Steve! I hear he is a great breeder. : )
I did check out Aldergate, but if I'm remembering correctly it's WAAAY north of us (about a ten hour drive). I've done a lot of research on corgis, mostly on this site, but I've never met a cardi in person, so I'm excited to be able to take a fairly short drive so we can all visit the dogs and the breeder. That'll be the best way to find out if they're really the right fit for our family.
Wow, 10 hours is a long drive!
is that the breeder in Carpenteria? there was a litter born on 2/14 - good luck, there are quite a few of us here with cardi's and we are all very grateful for the tails!
Yes, that's the one.
In so cal there are quite a few agility clubs with a number of extremely reputable cardigans who regularly run in them - if you are interested in doing some further checking on any breeder you choose or look for, contact those agility clubs, just google agility and cardigan, and your area, speak with the coordinator - they should be able to advise you further.
Patti, Thank you for a great idea, I never would have thought of that!

That's the kind of mycorgi.com wisdom you can only get right here on this site!
