So I am torn about adopting a 9 month old pem at a local rescue. He is absolutely adorable and I would love to have him but.....
Charlie can be very posessive and controlling and I would not want him to hurt the new pup. We also have a sheltie, Rowdy, that just turned 15 months old and can still be quite the handful. He is borderline hyper and has just now started to settle down - slightly. All my animals are treated as part of the family and I don't know if a would trust the new dog and my dogs to get along. I would naturally want to crate the new baby until we all adjust but I haven't ever crated my dogs once they have been housebroken.
This dog was turned in because they said he was more dog than they could handle and because they said he has a chewing problem. What in the world does that mean - he's still a puppy! What puppy doesn't like to chew on things. (I think maybe they just didn't understand the breed)
So what do all of you that have rescue experience think? Should we or shouldn't we? (we also have a cat and I don't know if this dog has ever been around cats)
