Hello everyone and Happy New Year .! I Was wondering if any of you have been asked to return a puppy before ? I talked with the breeder last night and she told me Brynn's mom had died a few days ago and wanted to buy back Brynn from us ???? I told her i couldn't do it ,but would think about letting Brynn mate with another of her dogs . I could NEVER return my baby i have had for a month now and was wondering if you have ever done or heard of this ? Thank you in advance :)

We have decided not to breed Brynn and avoid her Breeder .
Good! I just saw this post and cried out when I read the main topic!

What a good daddy you are! Keep your baby and enjoy her! Kudos to you!

I would have laughed at her breeder if I was asked to return Roxi! What a horrible breeder! Ugh!
It's a good decision to avoid that breeder. If the seizure her dog died with is something genetic, she shouldn't be trying to breed in the same line anyway. Did I also read that she told you that Brynn would only end up weighing 12 lbs full grown? If she is trying to breed "Toy" Corgis, I wouldn't consider her reputable. (Though I have a hard time believing that she knows what she's talking about -- 12 lbs. ??? )
I agree Charlie . I think she is wrong , Brynn was 3lbs at 8 weeks and is now almost 8 lbs at 14 weeks .I think the breeder is crazy . I am not contacting her again. She did tell me she was trying to breed smaller dogs. I didn't know what i do now about breeders etc.. I saw her ad online and went to meet her , saw Brynn , and it was true love .When i get Brynn a baby brother next year i will make a more educated decision .I just happy to have my little girl .
Asking if she could have your Brynn back would indicate she's slightly off her rocker. LOL

Brynn is gaining weight normally, BTW. She is on the small side, but Corgi pups usually gain about one pound per week of age, up to about 5- 5.5 months. Brynn has gained 5 pounds in 6 weeks, so that sounds good.

Charlie is a "little guy" too. I didn't realize when I bought him at 10.5 weeks that he should have weighed around 10.5 pounds. He was only between 5-6 pounds at 10.5 weeks. He's now 19 pounds at 6.5 months. He has that awkward, gangly look right now (entering his teenage adolescence period) but should fill out a bit more over the next 12 months or so.

Charlie's breeder is also not "top-notch". However, she has owned Corgis over 20 years. I was able to meet the sire and dam on-site and they had the most fantastic temperaments, were clearly well-cared for and apparently healthy. The litter had some obvious conformation flaws. Charlie has a butterfly nose (his nose leather hasn't turned solid black, so it has pink spots) and one of the pups was a "blueie". I had also looked at a top-quality litter, but the dam seemed to me to have some temperament problems. I went for good temperament over "beauty". Guess I could have waited for looks plus personality, but I certainly wouldn't trade Charlie for any other pup. He's my perfect dog. :)
Thanks for your reply and letting me know about the weight issue :) I agree about personality over looks , i went in wanting a boy but Brynn was the one that picked me ! She was the only one that came forward and wouldn't let go of me .She was strong from the get go !
Charlie, Gizmo also had a pink spot on his nose at that age, as he got older, the cute little spot disappeared =(

But for Brynn's parents... you should have asked the breeder, "well, would YOU give up your baby? no!"

Gizmo was a pet store puppy, which I probably wouldnt do again, gizmo was a gift to me, but we got extremely lucky with him. He will be 7 in March and has had absolutely no health problems. He was on a bit of penicilin looking medication when he was a puppy, not sure if it was something they give all pet store puppys or if there was somethin wrong, but he absolutely loved it! haha, he would climb all over me every morning to get his medicine
I don't think Charlie's nose is going to completely fill in. It was more than half pink, and now it's more than half black, but I haven't really seen much change in the last 2-3 months. It's ok with me that he has this "severe fault" (in AKC conformation terms). I love him pink nose and all! : - )

I'm very happy to hear that Gizmo is healthy. I have somewhat of a personal campaign against pet store puppies/kittens. Not all, but many, are brokered in from puppy mills and owners get saddled with heartbreaking life-long problems and huge vet bills. I'm glad you got one of the good ones without problems. : - )
Brynn is healthy as can be :) All her check ups have been positive , no fleas ,worms , cough or cold .She hasn't thrown up or had a loose stool since we have had her .
Brynn had her final shots 3 weeks ago and was able to meet other dogs at last ! She is so shy around them , i hope she gets over this .
Tomorrow were taking her to a Corgi meet- up ,and hopefully she will warm up to other dogs .She loves people and cats , dogs not so much . Yet :)
I love Brynn! She looks like a happy, healthy girt. Plus she has such great Daddies. : ) Be sure to take your camera to the meetup!
you might want to find out why the mom died...could it be genetic? or what? make sure your puppy could be introuble because if he is i would return him...i no it is hard but you dont want a sick puppy
yea that's why i wont be getting any more from a pet store. But back when I got him, it was my high school boyfriend who surprised me with him for my high school graduation/18th birthday present, after I had drooled over him in the mall one day and my parents wouldnt get him. hehe.... we got lucky with gizmo, and yes, my high school boyfriend is still my boyfriend 7 years later. It so funny because Gizmo rarely sees him anymore since he lives at my parents house and my bf has since moved out to new york with me...But everytime we come home and he walks in the house, Gizmo goes insanely crazy for him, like 100 times more insane than he goes for anyone else. It's like he remembers that this guy was the one who rescued him from that bad bad place! haha
