I would love to get input from new or long time dog owners. I have decided to take on a new hobby. I have recently started working for a fabulous home building company that dedicates there time to animals. They have created a fundraiser called "Homes for Hounds Gala" which raises money for the local SPCA, along with donating money of each sale. When I first heard the title I found it touching because all dogs deserve a home, which is the companies pride as it takes a lot of money to find every dog that goes through the shelter a home, as it is a no kill shelter. One thing we do is build dog houses and action them off at the Gala. Which inspired my idea to build dog houses. As i love to design homes, why not make a smaller version. At first I though to build my dog one as they are so bloody expensive to buy. When another forum caught my attention "DIY dog stuff". Every dog/ pet deserves a nice home indoors or out. So I am on a mission to build good quality dog homes and furniture/beds for dogs (AT A NOT SO HIGH MARKET PRICE) So people that don't or can't "DIY" can still have a home or furnitture at the same price as if they where making it themself.

I want to keep every dog in mind, big and small, indoors or outdoors, one dog house or multiple dog house:

1.) First I plan to provided a customization option, Making the perfect size house to suit each customers pet(s). And allow a variety of color, style and deco rational options so each dog house suites its home.

2.) Some dogs love human furniture, so why not make a mini version. Custom made to suite each customers pet(s).

3.) Keep in mind customers budget, so keeping prices low, and only make little or no profit.

4.) Not everyone will have a vehicle to pick up. So delivery will be supplied at little or no cost, In the city and surrounding areas.

******Now here is where you come in, what are other things would you like to have considered if you where getting a custom made dog house or bed?************* Im a new dog owner of a 5 1/2 month old pup. So others input would be great from people that have gone through the stages or are in different stages of their pets life.

I would guess that it would have to be fairly light so it can be transported to various rooms...easily cleaned, just like our home and therefore big enough to clean or small enough to wipe a cloth round to stop it from becoming smelly. Maybe some interchangeable paintings and such like to change the look of the home, various sizes so that it can house more than one dog (multiple corgi owners might like their babies to live together).
You might consider a disabled version for the dogs that are not so mobile, there are even those that have a wheeled harness.
Most of all I wish you all the best in your process, maybe rather than not earn from this prospect, you could consider sharing the profit with a local rescue shelter?
The easily clean is a great idea, thank you. So i will come up with materials and finishes to make it easier to clean, as most dog houses have exposed wood interiors. And i will do revisable bed covers, or additional bed cover slips. I will also keep in mind the ease of use for dogs/pets with mobility problems. I also have tons of ideas for dog houses for 2-4 dogs.

All if any profits will be either going toward purchasing need tools or machinery, or building houses for charities, or fundraising actions and when nothing is needed I plan to donate money to shelters or animal rescue programs, as I do on a regular basis already.
LMAO Have you seen these? I know this is not what you were thinking of, but wouldn't it be nice if we could all spoil our pooches with one of these! I stumbled on this web site a few years back... http://doggydreamhomes.com/ Heck they even have pools for dogs, air cond., etc!
