How old were your puppies when you chose to spay/neuter them?

My vet said I should spay Sadie before her first menstrual cycle in an attempt to reduce cancer risks. Most people say around 6 or even 7 months, is that what you guys did? Sadie is starting puppy classes and they won't be over till the week she turns 6 months (if you are going by the number of weeks, instead of the actual day of the month) so I would have to take her in right after her class is completed.

So what would everyone recommend?
