I live with my husband, chow chow-corgi, and blue-eyed Doberman.
About My Corgi(s):
Wellie and his brothers were tied up and abandoned. A neighbor notified Animal Control and when the officer got there, she said she thought she was going to see some horrible animal mutilation because there were three normal looking dogs without any legs! But then she realized they had very short legs (their mom was a Corgi). Wellie and his brother Red were half chow chow and the third brother was half German shepherd. Animal Control called them the Clown Dogs, because they were so funny looking. They thought Wellie was a girl, for some reason (he's pretty furry and I guess nobody really checked).
Wellie is an absolute delight. Although he looks like a Chow (with very short legs), he loves to herd things.
Your description of Animal Control's reaction made me laugh! I think his legs look just the right length myself, after all they reach from his body to the ground!
Could be the Chow in him, but our Cheyenne is very protective of us, much like our Chows were. Our Chows, however, were one-owner dogs, and I don't think they would have done as well as a Corgi does going from one owner to a shelter to another owner, etc. Glad we're friends!
hey!!! Chorgi's do rule! theyre just ultra fluffy corgis ;o) you know, i read what you wrote about how the animal poice thought the dogs were mutilated and all cause they looked legless... oh god i couldnt stop laughing. i mean that would be horrible if it were really true but you know what i mean... just gave me a good laugh. those little legs are killer!
my Mia doesnt have short stubby legs but her front legs are significantly shorter than her rear ones. you know... chow chows must really have it for some corgis. maybe its the ears... or the no tail thing... who knows but chow.corgi mixes are all so cute.
Well ...... Wellie looks exactly like the mixed Corgi I just adopted from the City pound. I was told he was possibly mixed with Chow-Chow, and from looking at Wellie, it must be true !!!!! I hope to post a picture soon.
