After a fairly long hiatus I started training for triathlons again last spring, and started running from pretty much zero, taking along Tilley with me. She's gotten in shape with me and now we run 4 miles 2-3 times a week. She absolutely loves it, gets cranky when we go more than 3 days without a run, and is gleefully happy (then sleepy about half an hour later!) after each run.

Anyone have experience with/thoughts on managing running training for corgis? My general tenet has been don't add distance unexpectedly, same as I would do for me, and that's worked.

I will be gradually increasing my mileage over the winter for a half marathon in the spring, and don't know at what point I need to only take her for part of the run(s). Thanks in advance for any insights!

yea we got some pet tape for roxi's paws and the vet said it would be fine, just change it every morning..

well that evening she gets all twitchy which is odd for my little girl... so i unwrap her paws and she just lays there twitching, staring at me like "You did this! You evil woman!" Her poor little paws.. I felt so bad but we had to keep her away form those stitches!

it was the funniest thing though!
we had the same problem with Roxi (because she was using her back legs to scratch at her stitches after having the cone put on...). So we tried using rubber bands and she just figured out how to step on them with her front legs and jump back to pull em off..
I really wish I got a video of it.. it was crazy!
Corgis are too darn smart! I once had a trainer tell me that while corgis are good therapy dogs, they're difficult to train as service dogs because they're so smart. As an example she said that they'd train Labs to open doors and the Labs would do it perfectly and just wanted to please the trainer and would do it when asked. But not the corgi's. Once the corgi's learned how to open a door then they started letting themselves outside to play! They were constantly thinking up ways to use what they'd been taught for their own benefit. Too funny!
That is too funny!!! I agree that our dogs are "too" smart :) My wife taught our corgis how to use the bell whenever they want to go out, and it's placed right next to the front door. So when my corgis get bored, they intentionally ring it and make my wife walk all the way from the 2nd floor to downstairs and let them out. Sometimes if our corgis think the walk was not "good" enough, they would ring the bell again for seconds.
