Hello everyone,

So I've recently brought home a pembroke welsh corgi whose turning 9weeks old this weekend. Now that he has lived with the family for about a week, he plays more aggressively, and by that, I mean he growls and barks at us when we play with him.

After we drop down his toy and pause playing with him for a few seconds, he'll start to bite onto his toy and growl and bark. Is he playing too aggressive or he just wants us to keep playing with him? Does growling indicate anything?

My family and I are first time owners of a puppy so we're looking forward to learn from experienced corgi owners. So thank you in advanced for any tips you guys can provide us! :)

One of mine growls and barks when he plays routinely.   He's never aggressive and won't touch a toy if my hand is on it.
Thanks for all the great tips everyone! but I have a new problem to deal with right now... please check the link below in another post I made regarding allergies...

You can teach him the word "give" and teach him to release when you say this word (never pull on the toy).  You need to handle him gently, this will make him gentle also, rough handling and yelling "no" often will simply make him more intractable.

He is very young, but pups grow fast, so you need to learn how to manage him properly from right now.  Start reading about puppies all you can and find a puppy class to enroll him in where you can learn together after he has his 12 wk. shots.

Growling as he plays with his toys is not a problem, but if he growls or barks at you, or any other person that is.  The pup needs to bond with you, learn to love and respect you, to look at you for guidance, not fear you.  It's up to you to bring out the best in him. The challenge is worth getting a lifetime companion.

Frosty always growls, barks and yodels when he is playing with his toys, but it is never aggression directed at us.  He is 2 now.  Here is one of my favorite videos...
