I have a puppy who is 12 weeks today. I am feeding her dry food and currently am doing 1/2 cup in the morning and then a little over 1/4 cup at night. During the day she is blocked off in the kitchen while I am at work (once she is potty trained she will have full access). Her 1/2 cup is gone in the morning and she sniffs around as though she is always starving. I have read that Corgi's often act as though they are hungry but are actually fine.

Anyways, my main question is how much I should be feeding her daily and if I am doing too much!?

I am sorry. I have no advice for you. I would talk to your vet. They should let you know if your puppy is gaining a healthy weight or if she needs to gain more/less... good luck
I would "somewhat" use the guidlines on the bag of food you are using. If it is a very high quality meat based food your pup will need less, if it is a corn or soy based food she cannot process it properly and will have too many stools, thus being more hungry. My rule of thumb is: put half a cup of food down, if they clean it up quickly next feeding put down 3/4 cup food. What ever they do not finish in 45 minutes subtract from the next feeding amount until you have a happy pup. You have to remember that corgis can be "Chow Hounds" and do gain weight rapidly, use the bag directions for size and weight and your own best judgement. If you give treats throughout the day cut back on kibble. Please only use nutritional treats like "Natural Balance meat rolls" then you know they are not filling up on junk food, just like us.
I am getting a puppy when he turns exactly 12 weeks old. The breeder is saying we should feed him 1 cup twice a day.
Hope this helps!
the back of the kibble I feed him, which is Diamond Puppy, says anywhere between 3/4 cup to 1.5 cups. I will try 1/2 cup in the morning and again in the afternoon, but she always acts as though she is hungry so maybe I should put more down, I just don't want to overfeed her. Especially because her breakfast is down for more than 45 minutes a day since I have work.

She does go to the bathroom a lot, but her food claims it is not corn or soy based, would that indicate I feed too much? Or maybe she is just goes to the bathroom a lot.
I always end up feeding Charlie about 1.5 cups or maybe a little more. Since right now she's on that bland diet (chicken and rice only), I've been feeding her more chicken since when I was feeding her more rice she gained almost 2 pounds in just over a week D:
Puppies go a lot, but I would definitely do some research on the dog food you're feeding her. I've personally never heard of it, so I don't know anything about it, but there are some great foods out there, and while they may be more expensive, when you consider the fact that you don't have to feed them as much, the price pretty much evens out. Plus you have a happier, healthier pup.
When Dax was a puppy I fed him about 1 cup twice a day. Sometimes he would eat, sometimes he wouldn't (he didn't like his food). He's not at all overweight, now I've switched him to adult food and he gets 3/4 cup twice a day. I'm definitely no expert, but I would think that puppies need to eat more because they're still growing. If you start noticing her putting on TOO much weight, just cut down a little. Feeding amounts are different for each dog, you just have to find the right balance. A better quality food will require you to feed less, but a more active dog will need more -- of course you won't really have an "active dog" right now since she's only 12 weeks, but later on when you switch her to adult food you'll have to reevaluate her feeding regimen, but like I said, every dog is different, and corgis are always hungry (and good at looking like it even when they're not), so don't let her fool you! :)
thanks for all the help. The reason I am feeding her the Diamond puppy food, is becuase that is what her previous owner used to feed her, I got Pedigree and tried mixing it in, but when she was done only Pedigree was left and she ate all the other stuff. Maybe I am feeding her less, and should be feeding her close to a cup twice a day, that could be why she always looks hungry, she probably is!!

Is 6.2lbs normal for a 12 week old puppy? Is that normal or too fat, or too skinny? I tried looking up average corgi weights online with no help, if any of you know, that would be great. Her doctor didn't mention anything about her weight, but I am just curious. Thanks.
Jasper is almost 12 weeks now, but when he was at the vet a couple weeks ago he was about 9 lbs and the vet told me he was a little chunky. I'm guessing he's around 12 lbs now but I cut back on the treats since the vet visit and he doesn't look chunky to me anymore- I can see his waist and feel his ribs under a little fat. I guess we will find out if he's still chubby when we go back for his shots tomorrow. I read somewhere they should gain about a pound per week for a certain amount of time like 10 wks=10lbs; 11 wks= 11lbs; 12 wks=12 lbs etc. but I don't know how accurate that is, and certainly can't be generalized to all puppies.
I feed Jasper 1/3 of a cup of Blue Buffalo three times a day mixed with a small tablespoon of wet food because I'm still trying to wean him off of it, but he also gets extra kibble in his Kong instead of treats. I wouldn't worry too much if your vet didn't say anything. Your pup might just be petite. If you know how big her mom and dad were that's sometimes a good indicator of her body type. : )
