Barking at 2:30 AM for What?

First of all, I totally understand and accept corgi barking even thought it could be excessive sometimes.

But I really need to know what caused mine barking at 2:30 AM when there is NOTHING going on...

My 7 months Pembroke has been sleeping/crating in the living room during bedtime since the first day she came in our apartment. And she has been doing really good and quiet till recently. Last night was the worst so far.

--- Last night, she barked around 2:30 AM for which I don't see any difference around. If I let her out of the crate she would stop a bit and still barked. It ended up as that my boyfriend and I walked her for a few blocks at 3:30AM... then put her back to the crate, gave her another good night cookie and call for the night/morning.(I thought she has been provided enough exercise during the day: one hour hiking in the morning + one hour running in the park at night, maybe it is not enough...?)

This morning, I took her out for around 1 hour walk before I left for work. When I reached my office and checked the video surveillance at home (an app used for online chat...), she was barking AGAIN.... Sigh..(Thank God she fell asleep while I am writing this....)

The only thing I could think of is the weather, since yesterday was 29C her and this is her first summer. Does anybody has the similar problem during hot weather?

If it is not the weather, what will it be? Teenager barking or else? (she found her voice already, that's for sure!)

Any advise? How I could solve this? (I might receive neighbor complaints very soon...)

Lucy has different barks. Her low woof is "I need to pee"... or poop...or both. Her high pitched, close-to-an-A-flat, bark is "pay attention to me cuz you've been gone all day and I want a belly rub NOW." Her warning bark is a little throatier and comes with her complete alert body position: ears up, nose in direction of sound, rigid pose, with right paw off the floor. Her alarm bark is throaty but it is usually several barks in rapid succession--that is when someone approaches my door.. Lucy has not barked at "random" during the night in a while, but on the occasions that she has, I always suppose it is an animal passing underneath my balcony. We have a plenty of fisher cats (type of weasel--ugly, vicious), racoons, skunks, etc. I figure she hears things I cannot. She also responds to non-routine noises outside my apartment door or outside late at night.

I have learned to ignore her and she stops. I do not respond to her every time she barks, esp. if it's for attention. She gives up pretty quickly.

DouBao was good throughout last night, so we got a good night sleep!!! --- Only 5 seconds deep growling at 3:30 AM this morning, but no need to check on her since it was just 5 seconds.I agree with you guys with that she might hear something out there, like cats, train or might some drunks talking on the street downstairs (We might never figure out what that is...since we cannot hear..).

She found her voice recently and she has no hesitation to use it!!! She starts to bark a bit when we crate her for bedtime at night. We daren't to make any sound at that point, then she will be quiet if no sound was heard. Since her crate is in the living room. Do yours do that?

I'm still learning what her difference barks mean.... Try to understand her better...

Lucy spends the night in her ex pen in the living room (so the cats can have the bedroom, stress-free). She barked at first--shortly after she "discovered" her voice--but stopped doing that after about a week and after realizing I was not going to respond to her. I give her a bedtime cookie right before I turn off the lights and she lays down--she seems to like that routine.

LOL, my dogs love their bedtime cookie! If I head toward the bedroom in the evening, they follow me looking all excited. Sometimes I put them to bed early, just to get some peace. We have their crates in the bedroom so none of us get lonely.
