Not sure where to post this....  I've been using a crate in the back of my hatchback, but for longer trips I'd like to have Tegan in the back seat (I have a VW Golf, so her crate barely fits in the back seat, and it's jammed up against the seats so I can't see her and vice versa).  I'd like to be more social with her on longer drives & let her see out the windows.  Does anyone have car harness recommendations?  I've seen several online, but can't tell what may fit her well, or which ones will be both safe and comfortable.  I would appreciate hearing people's experiences.  Thanks!

I have one for Sidney that we use on longer trips. I wanted the kind with the buckle that clips into the seat belt buckle, because I found that the one that has a loop that the seat belt threads through kind of pinned him down in the seat. It's also easy to get him into.

My friend uses this and his dog seems to like it. I drive a Jeep so I needed something with a little less freedom of movement. (Read: Something to keep Ella from sticking her nose to far over the side) I use a tether that I picked up at PetSmart. It loops around the tie downs for child seats in the back of the Jeep and extends up far enough that Ella can stand up and look over the back seat or stick her head far enough over teh side that she can see ahead of us. It clips on to her harness which is made to help disperse the shock of an accident, however you can use a normal harness as long as it fits well. I don;t remember the name of it but PetSmart does carry them still.
So you got me thinking and another post asking about a harness made up my mind to do some research. I came across a study done by the german version of AAA called the ADAC. Here is the study. I'm going to be changing my restraint system up after reading it. I also came across the videos that they took their pictures from on Youtube. I recommend checking them out as well before you decide. I am going to to be ordering a new one from http://www.ruffrider.com as soon as the new model comes out.
Wow Ella, that was great info! Can you post here when the new model comes out? What will be different about the new model?
I'll let you know as soon as they announce it. I am not sure exactly, but the change from basic to elite was a comfort issue. They added neoprene padding over the basic harness. The new model will probably be something inline with that. From what I can see they expect the new model out in about a month.
Thanks you guys! Really great, helpful information & links. I know Tegan and I will both be much happier when we can actually see each other while we're out driving around... :)
