cardigans

I'm looking for a cardigan corgi, prefer blue merle, and prefer a male. I can't find any breeders in California. I was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction of where to begin my search. I have a 2 year old pemmie and want to bring a second dog into my home, as I've always had 2 dogs. I thought it'd be fun to have one of each breed :-) I've done a lot of research on both breeds, just don't know where to search for an adult/puppy cardigan. I'd actually MUCH rather have an adult, but figure they are probably pretty hard to come by since puppies seem so hard to find.

Did you look through http://cardigancorgis.com/BreederDirectory.asp? The only one in California I'm familiar with is Glasshouse Kennel but there are a couple on there. If you're willing to drive or ship, there are quite a few nice breeders in Oregon. Coedwig is in Portland and has two blue/black litters on the ground right now I think.

There are far fewer Cardigan breeders compared to Pembroke breeders. You've probably already been to the breed website but if you manage to get in touch with one breeder you might be able to work your way through to one that has a Cardi available. From what I understand, Cardi breeders are a pretty tightly knit group. I was actually looking at Cardigans here in NY for awhile when it looked like getting a Pembroke wasn't going to work out.

One thing I might add is don't be too discouraged if they don't respond right away...maybe it's just my area, but two of the breeders I contacted took over a month to email me back. They both offered me dogs so I don't think it was anything I said lol. Sometimes a phone call might be your best bet.
