Chewing problem, Help!!!

Lola, my Corgi is one year old. Do they ever get over this chewing thing? She has chewed one couch, one love seat, lot's of wooden chairs and general wood work, several pairs of shoes, reading glasses, plastic bottles, etc.... Yes she has a toy box, gets a lot of exercise. I do play tug of war and at this point have not tried to teach her not to chew just tried to stop her when it's something I don't want her to chew. We have been stepping over gates for over a year to keep her away from the good stuff!

Is this typical? Any suggestions appreciated.

All of my dogs have gotten over this. It's been a puppy thing for us. On the plus side, it trained my three boys to put their shoes away:)
With one obnoxious chewer, I realized that the fairly large expense of daily rawhide bones was less than the cost of a shoe a day. So we went with that route. Daily rawhide bones, vigilance, and waiting for the pup to grow up.

yep, they get over it.... when you catch her with something she's not supposed to have, give her something she IS supposed to have.... kongs filled with stuffing (or frozen water), any sort of hard chew... At a year old, I'd probably still have her crated when I couldn't watch her, but that's definitely a personal preference.

how much is a lot of exercise? My corgi did over two miles on a walk (jog, for a corgi LOL) this morning, and we'll be doing some agility training this afternoon.

be thankful you don't have a larger dog... my sheepdog chewed his way through a wall when he was younger... drywall EVERYWHERE!

Exchange is a good practice when they get something they;re not supposed to chew. However it will not work if you chase your dog or try to take the thing out of their mouth. Shiro loves to grab t-shirts off the bedroom floor and run out with it to the living room. I usually behave like it's not a big deal, take one of his toys and play with it on my own. He drops whatever he has and goes to me to get the toy right away. That way he'll realize that things that he's not suppoed to have are not fun at all. Of course, many of you would tell me to keep my stuff off the floor, but try to explain it to my fiance :)
Oh yeah, and teach her "leave it" and "drop it" command through positive reinficement. Works wonders! Shiro doesn't know drop it yet, but sharp yelp "leave it!" sure distracts him from whatever he set his nose onto (except geese poop).
