I have a corgi puppy joining my family in about 4 weeks, and I already have a four year old ferret. I was wondering if anyone else has this pair of pets? Tummy, my ferret, loves dogs and has even lived with one for five months (my roommate had a coton de tullier). It often takes more time for the dog to warm up to Tummy than Tummy to the dog. I realize that since I'm getting an 8 week old puppy, it should be pretty easy for her to get used to Tummy, but I'm still nervous. I have separate "quiet spaces" for each of them, so they can have alone time. I know that I should introduce them slowly to each other and have supervised playtime until they get to know each other. I'm not allowing Starbuck, that's the puppy, to have any toys that look like Tummy because the last thing I want is for her to think "Hm, this long fuzzy toy squeaks when I bite it... I wonder if that long fuzzy thing running around will squeak too?" Tummy is a free-roaming ferret, meaning no cage, by the way, and he thinks he's human. The ending question is has anyone ever had experiences with ferrets and corgis? I'm hoping they'll be quite a cute pair... I'm sure they will be.
