Have you contacted the corgi rescue group in Georgia? Rome doesn't look like it's that far away from Atlanta.

I sent an email to a contact I found online. I'm in FL but I'm hoping someone more local to this shelter might see this posting and be able to help in some way. I found out about this from The Daily Corgi There's some readers of that site that might be stepping in to help (according the the comments left on that blog posting).

wanted to give an update. The day she went up for adoption myself and another person was there to adopt her. The gentlemen was there before us and she happly went home with him.
