Toss him some treats or hand-feed him his dinner while you load it. He'll learn that it's not the most interesting thing in the room. I've not had this with the dishwasher, but with other things.  Jack so hates the hand vac that he runs upstairs to the room where it's kept and starts barking when he hears me unplug it.   A handful of treats made him decide it's not so bad after all,
