Just wondering if anyone else does this...I have a recipe that my dogs love and I make it once or twice a month...now I don't take the time to cut out all those cute little dog bones but I put it on a cookie sheet, roll it out bake it and cut it with a pizza cutter after it has cooled a few minutes...total time including baking is a 45 min. job so I figure it's good ingredients and saves a fair amount of$$$ plus my dogs love it and it works well for trainig except they do break if you put them in your pocket. I freeze them and just take a few out at a time...

freezing sounds like a great idea. I had gotten some from a friend and after a week the left over ones had molded. Cody loves the homemade ones-- he will not hide them and eats them right away! I have the recipe and was going to make them, but was not sure how to keep them without them going bad. Thanks for the idea!
Freezing works wonderful and that way you can pull out as few or many as you want! I had the same problem with my 1st batch when I left them sit out, they can also last a couple weeks in the fridge.
Great quick and easy recipe that the dogs love:

Mix plain nonfat yogurt and peanut butter together and freeze in some ice trays (or whatever you want to use). Dax loves these things, especially when it's hot outside. They are messy, though, so I would recommend them as an outside treat or at the very least, keep them off the carpet!

You could mix fruit in with it instead of peanut butter for a bit of a healthier snack, but either way they'll be gone before you know it!
Sounds like a good Christmas treat my dogs would love it!!!! How much yogurt compared to peanut butter????

Thanks!
Peanut butter has a lot of fat in it, so I usually just put enough so he can taste it. Depending on how much you're making, probably a spoonful or two for enough yogurt to fill all the slots in an ice tray.
Sounds good! Thanks!
I found a really easy egg dog treat recipe from Petexpertise.com and wanted to share with you all.

1. Spray a microwave safe dinner plate with cooking oil.

2. Crack two eggs in it and beat them. (Optional) Add a tablespoon or two of grated cheese or meat broth.

3. Cook uncovered in microwave for 2 minutes and them allow to cool for a couple of minutes.

4. Repeat microwaving for 1 minute and cooling for a couple of minutes until they are the texture you like (dry enough to put in your treat pouch).

5. Cool, cut up and give to your dog for good behavior! Store in the refrigerator or freezer between training sessions.

6. (Hint) Soak the plate or it will be difficult to clean.
