I took Duece and Shelby to Appalachia Bay for some sandy beach swimming fun yesterday. Shelby (Duece's momma) is like a duck to water, she loves to swim. Duece (5 yr old) loves sprinklers and a kiddie pool at home and this was his first time for the lake. Well, he has zero natural swim ability, atleast to swim correctly. I was knee deep in the water and I got him to come out to me but as he tried to turn around he used his back paddles wrong, twisted his back and ended up flipping over and went under for a fraction of a second. This traumatized him enough that he didn't want to get more than just his feet wet after that. I tried to help him build his confidence by stabilizing his head/body but he still wasn't into it. Our next outting I will bring the dog life vest. Has anybody else had to help their corgi learn how to swim?
