Hello Corgi Owners
Has anyone experienced elbow problems with their corgis? We have a year old male, and he has been so miserable with a bad elbow. We have been to specialist and they say it is a common problem with corgi's.

Thank you for your input...My poor little boy has been through so much. I have had probably 4 different opinions about what is going on with him. They are saying it is the elbow and the shoulder. They have suggested surgery on the ulna bone (cutting it) and scoping his elbow/shoulder to see exactly what is going on. Not only does he have the elbow shoulder thing, he also has a bad back and hip. The poor little guy is doomed..... I love him and I will do what ever I need to.
They are saying the shoulder/elbow may have a bad tendon connecting the two together. He does the same thing, after he has laid down for a while and get back up, it is the worse. He limps horribly... It is heart braking to watch.
The surgery will cost at a minimum $4000.00. Thank you for your feedback.
I just wanted to follow up and see how your little boy is doing?? I really hope he is doing better, it's the worst heartbreaking thing to watch them in pain when they are so young.
I got the call from the Vet/and Radiologist and they said Rufus has elbow dysplasia...It's mild right now but the surgery to fix that would be min 4k too...Especially since he's only one, they said i should start saving just in case one of these days he really does need it. Maybe they have the some of the same problems.
Anyways, You should really look up the Flavocin. Ever since he's been getting two a day of these supplements. He's been doing soo much better. I rarely give him the Rimadyll the Dr Prescribed.
Good luck. I'm thinking of you guys.
We have occasional joint problems with one of our pups, Chase. He was running around the yard one day and all of a sudden he yelped and started limping on his front leg - we thought he broke something! My husband took him to the vet and they straightened out his leg enough that it kind of just popped the joint back into place. Chase stopped limping after that. We since started giving him Glucosamine every day and it seems to keep his joint flare-ups to a minimum. But when it does happen, we have some anti-inflammatories and pain meds that help him. Apparently since they have crooked little legs, they are prone to joint problems. Hope your little one feels better soon!
