I have two females and a male.  I've had the females (their sisters, a year apart) from puppyhood, and the boy I got when he was a year old and put into rescue.  Anyways, my boy is what I fondly refer to as 'my tick'....he's always stuck right next to me.  I'm female, though, but he also adores the guys he meets. He's a therapy dog and has quite a fanclub at the local VA (mostly male patients he sees) and he adores everyone.  My two girls definitely have an alpha thing going and will occasionally tussle with each other when Annie (the younger one) apparently gets uppity with Teri (the older one).  Nimh, the boy, just ignores it all and dotes on anyone that'll give him attention.  Both the girls are very affectionate...Annie with everyone, and Teri with the folks she knows.

I was worried about the piddling thing, too, but with Nimh (he's neutered), he hasn't caused any problems at all.  He needs to piddle more often than the girls, but he doesn't indiscriminately piddle everywhere.

As far as distance walks, it depends on the individual dog.  Nimh is not a mileage boy....Annie will go for miles, Teri is somewhere inbetween.

When I got Teri (she was my first) I was working some very long days and I had some friends come in and take her out about every 4 hours (I have great friends!).  Later on, when I knew I'd be gone for 12 hours or so, I'd put out some piddle pads in the bathroom and the dogs were extremely good about using those if they really had to go.  I didn't like the idea of making them hold it, you know?  It's not an ideal solution, but it worked well for me and the pooches.

I will be perfectly honest, my first corgi was a female and she was what they consider a "soft" corgi.  She lived and breathed  pleasing me.  Everything she did was just to please.  When things got really bad at the end for her, my hubby had just had quadruple bypass surgery and I was so busy with his recovery that I did not grip that she was getting worse.  But she never became a drama queen.  She quietly slept and never demanded anything from Daddy and I.  My boy Solomon is totaly different.  He is a little head strong and boyish in his exuberance, but thats ok, that makes him who he is.  With the leg lifting thing, Solomon was first used as a breeder boy so he was allowed to run free and just be a dog.  We adopted him and turned him into a pet in a home with just me and my husband.  He lifted once and I stoped him mid stream and he has never done it again.   I agree with everyone that is not a boy or girl issue.  Its the personality that you need that would suit your life and lifestyle.  Good luck!!!

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I plan to speak to a couple of breeders around here and see what they have to offer in terms of some puppies and see if they can match me up with a great fit in personality.
