Have you ever not been able to find your corgi for a few minutes? It happened to me yesterday. It was doggie dinnertime and I started calling for Sidney. I quickly located Bruce and Chester but no Sid. That's weird, I thought. Sid's always first in line when it comes to food! I asked my son "have you seen Sidney", but he hadn't either. We started checking in the house and I began to get worried. Checked in the back yard, raising my voice to call for him with that telltale catch in my voice that betrays my crumbling hope. Tears starting to well up as I begin interrogating other family members; "Are you sure you closed the gate?" "Did he maybe get out the front door?". Argh, it was horrible. As it turns out, he managed to close an upstairs bedroom door behind him. My son found him and you can imagine my immense relief and I hugged him so tight! I'm sure Sid was wondering what the heck was going on and why did we disturb his peaceful nap?

Rose feel asleep under our sofa when she was five months old and like you I was in tears. My son finally found her when he noticed part of a tiny paw peeking out from under the sofa.
Like the last post. When Chloe was just about 8 wks....she got wedged up under the couch in a place I couldn't find her anywhere. I was about hysterical and my the 7 mo. old Snickers was in his cage. I let him out and asked him where his sister was....he ran right over to where she was stuck and started whimpering!!!!! God Bless Him!!!!!
Yes, once it was pouring rain and of course Lola had to pee, I put on my jacket with the huuuuge hood and ventured outside. For one second I took my eyes off her and I couldn't find her. We have an enclosed backyard but she has been known to escape. I freaked out and started yelling her name, and was on the verge of tears when I felt her stand up and put her paws on my leg. She was underneath me the whole time getting away from the downpour, and my hood was blocking my vision haha. My boyfriend wanted to know why I was crying in the rain
My fiance and I were looking at wedding stuff on the computer, and the bedroom door was shut (nowhere for Blaze to go). I looked over to see if he had fallen asleep, and couldn't find him! He wasn't on his beanbag chair, laying behind the computer chair, or in any of his regular spots!! I called out for him a few times, and heard his tags jingling, and finally saw a snout poke out from under the bed!! He was sleeping under there!! :) Here's a photo of him in all his sleepy-eyed glory!!

And yes, there have also been plenty of times that I have "found" him right at my feet, or next to the couch!
Pretty amazing how quiet they can be. . .
Sam, your reply cracked me up. Leaving your poor puppy in the pantry while you feast on the goodies.
Having lost Thunder over night and having a call to tell me that they had him I know what you went through. Our little fur buddies really mean so much to us.
Give anonther hug from me.
Thunder
More than once, I have mislocated my corgi... Since she doesn't have a tail, we can't hear her tail flap against wherever she is hiding. Her tag also has a cover to muffle the clankin sound. And yes, she does know "come" command real well... more so when we are outside, but she seems to get a bit moody sometimes. When we couldn't find her once, and I was in panic with tears (my husband is the calm one), I didn't know where she could have gone! We lived in a 1 bedroom apt at the time, we looked her cage, beds, couch, everywhere we could think of. Finally, I tricked her, hoping she would fall for it & said "Dee Dee, dinner!" I heard movement in the bedroom, and sure enough, there comes nose, head, and whole body, flat as a rug, coming out under the bed! What? The space is less than 5 inches tall! We didn't think she could fit under the bed, so we never thought to look there! I'm glad we didn't sit on the bed while she was there. We could have squished her!! Well, that was when she was less than 1 yr old. Now she's fully grown, she NO LONGER fits under the bed. Thank goodness. One less place for her to hide! And yes, we have lost & found her when she was right beside us as well. :p
Sometimes Ein will shut himself up in the spare bedroom. I know the feeling.
KC has gotten away outside a few times and scared the crap out of me. Her come does not work no matter how much we practice. It took us awhile to figure out that she likes to hide under our bed, usually there isa a fuzzy butt and legs sticking out somewhere but sometimes she gets all the way under there. Taz likes to sleep behind the ironing board in the laundry room and behind the garbage can in the kitchen, this lead to a few moments of panic before we figured out where he liked to nap. He also has been known to go under our bed and has a fav spot between the couch and bookshelf. And there have been many times of yelling my fool head off only to have them all sitting at my feet looking at me like "hey stupid what do you want?" lol. I love my dogs.
Aw Geri, that is a scary feeling. Max frequently gets himself locked in the bathroom if we forget to close the door all the way. If he gets tired of sitting there in the dark by himself before we notice he's gone, he will sit there and mumble louder and louder until he sounds like he's almost swearing at us to come let him out.
We installed a doggy door on our bathroom door... are we crazy? Well, it works!
My first, most frightening, experience with this was when our oldest dog, Cosmo, (age 9 in March) was about 9 months old. I had searched the house and back yard looking for the him, but the dog was nowhere to be found. Fearing that he had somehow gotten out of the house, my sons, who were 15, 14 and 11 at the time, were sent out by bicycle, with strict instructions to report to "headquarters" via walkie-talkie the instant they had a "Cosmo sighting." Seeing nothing, they finally returned at dusk, dejected, worried and heartsick, and we all gathered together in the kitchen. I pulled out the trusty phone book, in preparation to make the fateful call to report our missing dog to the local pound. My youngest son excused himself to use the bathroom, and quickly returned with a triumphant grin on his face, and a happy corgi frolicking by his side. "I found Cosmo!" he announced. "He was waiting for me in the powder room!" Somehow, some way, the little rascal had gotten closed up in the downstairs guest bathroom, and was patiently waiting for a human to let him out. Cosmo had a "heroes welcome" that evening, complete with treats and lavish attention.....though he'd really gone nowhere at all! ;-)

Now whenever one of my dogs "goes missing", I simply open all the room doors! :-)
