The other night as I was saying goodnight to Lance and petting him, his paws were really raw. One paw is really bad and the others are getting worse.

I bought a comfy cone to stop the licking tonight, it has worked somewhat. He is tolerating it too. :) I am thinking maybe I should have gotten the clear one instead.

I am concerned about work in the morning. If we leave the cone off I am afraid he is going to do more damage to himself while I am at work. Wearing the cone with no one home is proabably not safe even if we gate him in the kitchen. This seems to be a no win situation. :(

Any advice would be greatley appreciated.

Some dogs are allergic to grass too, so the grass might be irritating his paws. I just ordered some products from the nzymes.com website. I can't wait for them to get in and try them. I'll let you know if I see a difference!
I wouldnt be surprised if Lance is allergic to grass as alot of the times he is walking in the grass and sneezing!
Hi, how is Lance doing with the licking?

Casey has been doing the licking a lot recently. I took him to the vet and he got a cortizone shot. He was drinking alot of water for about 2 weeks. I read the discussion replys and will be going directly home to put apple cider vinegar and water on his paws. I do not believe I was able to find out what ACV is.

I feel so sorry for him and want to help him so bad.
ACV - I feel dump - Apple Cider Vinegar. Dah!
Hi Madonna,

Lance is doing great! The apple cider vineager seemed to have worked! He still wants to lick his paw from time to time but nothing like before when I didnt even realized he was licking!! Thanks for asking. Hope your dog feels better soon too.
Hi Natalie,

I was just about to write you to see how Lance was doing. So happy he is doing better! :D
Just wanted to let you know that I have started using the Ox-E drops that another member suggested and they have been working great! Both of my dogs have stopped licking their paws almost completely. I have been using them in conjunction with the Antioxidant treats that you can also purchase on the nzymes.com website along with the Ox-E Drops. So, I'm not sure if the improvement is because solely because of the Ox-E drops or if it is the two in combination. I am excited to have found something that works though! It hasn't stopped the tummy itching yet, but I'm hoping that will come soon too (although I did find a flea on Sky yesterday, so that might have something to do with all the tummy itching!).
Yay I am so happy this worked for you! The same combo has really helped Silas. Thanks for posting how your crew is doing, I've always wondered if nzymes would work for someone else :)
Hi, I just got the Ox-E drops and Antioxidant treats today in the mail. I do have questions if someone can help me. The Ox-E drops directions say to add 2 - 3 drops each time you refill his water. Casey's water bowl is about a cup. I usually fill it half way and have filled it twice since I got home at 2:30 today. Is there a certain amount of drops I should do a day?

I already gave him a treat. He wanted to roll and rub on it. He finally ate it. I am not sure how those will do. Tomorrow I will start with the 2 a day for two weeks.

I am still rubbing his paws with ACV (and listerine once in a while) and giving him one benadryl a day.

Would this be for the rest of his life or just during allergy season?

Any direction I can get would be greatly appreciated. There is nothing but the best for our boy.

p.s. I found the treats ($16.99 for 60) and drops ($17.99 - 2.2 fl. oz.) + $6.69 shipping on robbinspetcare.com.
I know with the Ox-E drops, it's recommended to have at least 2 drops a day. We do 2 drops at each meal (breakfast and dinner) + 2 drops in the water bowl. So, we're looking at 6 drops total. :-) Also, from what I understand, if Casey has yeast problems, you're looking at several months, maybe longer, and then he will be OK. If he has allergies, you might be dealing with a longer-term application of ACV / benadryl, etc. (unless of course, you can eliminate the source of the allergy.) For Silas (and you may think we are nuts) we make his food, so we can avoid foods that add to his food allergies as well as foods that encourage yeast growth. (If you'd like more info on this, just let me know! :-) )

For the treats, I had to break them in half for picky-eater Silas. Once he's able to "smell" the inside of the treat, he gobbles them right up.

I hope this info helps! :-)
Benadryl. Faulks takes another type of pill the vet gives him too, I don't have it on me right now so I can't give you the name.
He tears fur off his feet from licking and biting. I find if I give him a pill a day right now, even half of one it helps enormously.
Vet says Faulks is allergic to grass (among other things) and to wash his feet and belly off every time he comes in from being outside.
Thanks Kelli, yes Lance takes benadryl as well. Does Faulks sneeze when in the grass? Lance will actually sneeze when in the grass!!!
