Sadie is about 5/6 months old. She is very high energy! We have had her for about 3 months. My boyfriend and I live in Galloway, Ohio. We live in a apartment complex in a town house. When we got her she used the bathroom outside more than she does now. Recently she has been using the living room floor as her bathroom. And we stay on top of it if she has been drinking a lot of water or if she has not gone for awhile we watch her and we take her outside. She is afraid of everything out there! she barks at everyone and all other animals. If a car goes by or someone's air conditioning starts up she bolts toward the door. We don't have a yard per say but we do have some what of a place for her to go. If people are outside we take her behind the dumpsters or on the other side of town homes. She is really getting bad lately! She used my couch yesterday as her own personal bathroom. I'm running out of patience. I just don't know what to do.

I live on an apartment and was always a student and or working full time when we got Loki. We trained him to go pee on one of these http://www.ugodog.net/ , so we have never had trouble not being home. He hardly uses it now at 6 months as he would rather pee on things (IE everything) outside. But every now and then he does. It is as easy as a good rinse in the tub to clean.
The fear response to outside stimulus may be interfering with her potty training. This is one case where I might recommend consulting a professional. If she keeps bolting for the door when she's out, it means she is not happy out there. Have you done a lot of socialization with her? Taken her to new places during her first 16 weeks of life so she got used to strange sights and sounds? Some dogs develop noise phobias. You might want to talk to someone now, while she's still young and her behavior can more easily be shaped.
