all of sudden baden has been pulling me around so hard my arm is sore when i get home. when he first started doing it i got him the mesh sporn no pull harness(the one that tightens under the legs) and it worked great but he figured out how it works so now he will pull just enough where it dosnt tighten much on him but he can still be ahead. i tried praising for him walking nicely but then he will get excited and run ahead and then continue to pull. if i stop he will lay down and not want to budge and when he does get up he runs ahead again. i have tired giving a quick jerk on the leash and he will respond and then walk ahead.

i have also tied walking him on his normal buckle collar with less success. he just pulls as hard as he possibly can and like i said if i stop or turn around he will just lay down and refuse to move. is he testing my leadership? also would a martingale collar stop this weird behavior or he is too young (5months)

other than that hes been a very good boy. me and my husband are very proud of him :)u like my bow? hehe

It does... We used one before switching to the gentle leader and it fit fine.   I did have some knowledgeable help me fit it, otherwise I probably wouldn't have done it right!    It did work for general pulling with Chewey but we had some other challenges with him (lunging at other dogs, etc.) and it wasn't effective as the gentle leader was for that type of behavior.

Don't have any words of wisdom, but I had to comment on Baden. He is getting so big!

o i know :) hes growing slowly but steady. he use to be only 7pounds when i got him! i think it might be the large breed puppy food lol

We love the bow

Miles says 'Hi, Baden" ... 20 lbs already? Wow! big boy

baden says "hi miles! i think its neat we came from the same breeder. i wish we could meet some day!"

The gentle leader works wonders. :)

He is a very cute fellow.  Randy grew like that and I fight to get him a little below 36 lb.  I am planning to get a Halti collar.

Randy could tow a tow truck.

What a sweet boy! Kerby and I LOVE his bow! =)

I've heard good things about the gentle leader, but I haven't tried it...Kerbs pulls a lot too. I'm a little leery about putting something around his mouth, I don't know why. I like the idea of the easy walk harness. Have you tried anything since you made this post?

hi Laura and thank you:)

no i havnt gotten the harness yet as i gotta wait until payday as are car decided it had to die this week, ugh! so i have been trying what everyone else said to do, put the collar right behind the ears and if he pulls stop and then praise for good behavior. its working well so far. although i honestly dont mind if walks ahead i just dont want him yanking my arm out of my socket so every now and then if hes not running straight ahead ill tell him its ok and let him walk a little in front. but i am still going to give the easy walk harness a try.

i do have a head collar that was teddys (R.I.P) and it worked miracles on him but im not sure if i am ready to try that on baden just yet. i want to give the easy walk harness a shot and if that dosnt work then ill try the head collar :)

We ended up buying the gentle leader for Winston. It works amazingly. Of course, Winston doesn't too much care for it but it sure has been helpful for getting him to pay attention to me when we walk and it has made him stop pulling/lunging like a maniac.

I doubt we can walk Winston without it yet, but we will get there, I hope.

thats one thing i truly loved about the head collar, once hes trained u slowly wean him off of it and u no longer need it :)
