just as a reminder to those since we all care very much about are dogs. be sure that their collar or harness is snug! a few months ( really have been meaning to post this)  back while getting baden out of the car baden slipped his collar and ran into a busy street. i was trying to get his ball out of the car and thats when i felt a small pull and he was off running towards something he had seen. this street was very busy, lots of cars and a bus dropping off children. when i seen he ran out i called to him as a car from one way was doing 25 mph and the other going a bit faster as she was on the phone. baden realized what he was doing and stopped right in the middle of the lanes and then the left side where the faster car was driving. i called out to him and hunkered down obviously very scarred. i ran between the cars and scooped baden up since he was paralyzed with fear and wouldnt budge while hearing the people honking to me and people slamming  on their brakes.

my heart stopped seeing a flash of what could happen go through my mind. to loose another dog due to a careless mistake on my part before he hit his 3rd birthday.

happy to say Baden turned 3 in November due to my quick reaction. i will admit i cried and cried shortly after and us totally shaken but please take extra caution. since that day i always use a snug harness or a martingale collar. or if u do not have a martingale collar you can attach the clip to a slip collar along with his regular collar as a back up so if he tried to slip his collar the slip collar will act as a back up and tighten so he will be safe from harm. even if u are against slip collars this is an effective method from them slipping their collar.

if u are not sure what a martingale collar is, its this (also called a humane choke) http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3AMar...

i have included a photos of his martingale collar

Hi Rebecca, many thanks for posting! Gosh you must have been shocked! We use a collar that has snap in and then lock it. Now we have changed to body harness, to take the stress from her neck as she is getting fat!

your very welcome, i just would hate for something like this to happen to anyone. it was so scary and happened so quickly.

i also prefer harnesses to collars but they are easier to put on and i know some corgis pull or dont like harnesses as much so a martingale collar is always a safe route. baden has a full body one for travel and a step in harness for hiking or long walks so he dosnt strain his neck. i often worry that collars will cause harm over time but i tend to be over protective lol

:-) You are so right about the doggy preferences. Ruby loves her harness and is AMAZINGLY better behaved in it. Cassie deeply resents a harness, tries to sit down or wiggle out of it, but heels right along with a collar.

Thanks so much for posting this report -- it's surely given us lots of leads for desirable products. Very, very happy to learn about these things.

its no problem ^_^ im glad i could help out and possibly prevent this in the future for someone else.

funny how each dog has a preference for what they walk in, baden dosnt mind his harness but would prefer a collar it seems. i have a wrap around mesh harness and he likes that one and dosnt even notice its on him but as for a step in mesh harness, he cant stand it and refuses to walk. he even has this ashamed look on his face lol but as for his normal step in harness from petco, he loves it and knows it means hes going for a walk. i notice though that hes happiest when he just has a collar on, picky boy he is haha :)
