I am sure you have all felt the sting of the change in economy. It is certainly affecting everyone in all walks of life. You may not know but it is also affecting the very dogs we love. I think most of the rescue pals I know have experienced an increase in the dogs coming into their program. The shelters are exploding with dogs. People are moving to smaller quarters, many are moving to different states and some can just no longer afford to care for their canine pals.
How can you help? May I suggest you contact the corgi rescues in your area and offer assistance in any way you can. All are in need of additional foster homes, folks willing to transport dogs, people willing to go to shelters and identify dogs. Monetary donations are always much appreciated as most rescues operate on a shoestring budget.
Do know that fostering is a challenging but rewarding job. Rescue groups each have different requirements. Many may ask for references. This is to help them know that people are generally responsible, love animals and have the abilities to work with a dog that may have an unknown background. One must have the ability to separate dogs within the home, time to socialize and do some basic training and stay in contact with their group.
If you wish to give back to the breed that has offered so much to you consider helping a rescue group of your choice. The dogs come out the winners.
