well, my husband just got orders for us to move to Arkansas. i am pretty nervous as in October is when we moved here and we love the house they have given us but with the military u go where they put you. so this also means my job as a dog trainer is going to be transferred as well. so now its time to find a new place. my hubby wants an apartment but i love having a house and so does teddy. when we had an apartment last time the cats were very stressed out and teddy was on edge all the time and he wouldnt go poop because he like privacy(i know, hes weird) also here i take him to the dog park on the Potomac river everyday so im at least hoping to find a good place to let teddy run off leach. In Arkansas  they have a dog park on the base and its on a pretty lake but i guess we will figure out how to tire him out. this will be the 5th move for me.

so i want to know is there anyone who lives there? anything i should know about? we are pretty excited but then again nervous

lol yea i better get use to it:) thank you by the way
I'm from Arkansas. Born and raised and I love it! I live pretty close to the LRAFB. Its a fun place to be. Let me know if you wanna know anything else.
i would be happy to hear anything about it:) any info about it would be great. im really nervous about the move but so far everyone has said its been a great place to live. do u know of any cheap houses or really big apartments or even condos that are close to the LRAFB? we found a few places but they are pretty far away.
There aren't a whole lot of apartments in Jacksonville. I know there are some in Cabot and that isnt to far. Or Beebe it is about 25-30 minutes from LRAFB.  My sister makes drive everyday she works at the school system in Jacksonville. I have only been on base a few times wiith a friend so I don't know much about it.
thats ok:) they sent us a ton of info about the base just not the area. from what we did find is that u r right about apartments being far away and thats what has gotten us worried. i would love it if u could tell me about the surrounding area:) also,i heard u have to be careful about snakes, is that true that there is an over abundance of them?
No they aren't too bad. Im a farm girl and I love to fish and I have only seen a few. I think Cabot is great. Little rock is your best bet for entertainment. There is quite a but to do in little rock. Plenty of shopping. Movies great places to eat and the rivermarket is fun during the day or at night. Depends on what you like to do. If ya tell me what ya like I can give you great places to go.
we love to go to really good restaurants(but not to expensive) go to the beach. attractions such as out door malls, zoos, amusement parks. or just quiet trails to walk on:) anything fun really lol
Well then there is the little rock zoo. It just got a new penguin exhibit. :)) I don't think we've got an outdoor mall. However there are a lot of flea markets. There are so many places to go for a wall outdoors! We aren't called the natural state for nothing. Hehe! There is plenty of fishing anywhere you want but alot of people go to Heber or hot springs. Hot springs is a blast! It is called spa city and has horse racing and all kinds of bath houses which are really old but really cool! Then there is petit Jean that's a great place to hike. So is pinnacle mountain.

And if you go to Hot Springs (which I think is west of Little Rock, you can either visit or stay at Lake Catherine State Park. It's gorgeous and we love it.  Great hiking, a lake for fishing, and both cabins and camping.

Around that area too, there are a lot of places where you can go crystal digging- it is what it sounds like: you bring your digging stuff (you know.....your corgi) and you find amazing big crystals that you get to keep.

I love it too! Hot springs is amazing! If you go there be sure to stop on bath house row and stop at the tourist shop called rickys. My cousin owns it and him and his wife are two of the sweetest people ever! The diamond digging is in Murfreesboro which is about an hour away from hot springs and there have been some big diamonds found there. I've never actually been myself but I've always wanted to!
that sounds like fun too:) i would love to do that! and i just love to fish and go on hikes so this will be great
