I'm not sure why, but Ella seems to be afraid of my husband.  He has never had a dog that didn't love him!  We're trying to figure out the reason.  I thought maybe because he is tall and that's intimidating, but we just don't know.  She runs to the door to greet him when he comes home from work, but that's it.  After that, she will run and jump on my lap if he starts to come towards her.  I wondered if anyone else has seen this behavior in their corgi.

I have seen this happen. When he goes to greet her does he bend over(intimidating to her) her or rather get down and let her come  to him? Maybe have a little treat (even just a dog food kibble) and when she approaches him for a pet he gives it to her.

Good luck, I bet this is a bummer for him.

Thanks for replying, Jane!  I will try your suggestions.  I remember my husband held her tightly once while I tried, unsuccessfully, to trim her nails.  Maybe that did it.  We will keep trying with her.  Maybe he can get down to her level and see what happens!  We tried putting her on his lap and she immediately wanted down.  She has always been a "drama Queen" anyway (words of her Vet, lol) so we'll keep working with her.  :)

Yummy treats and bringing them closer to him should work...it may be slow. I do know that a couple of my pups have had an issue like this and it was the leaning over that they hated.

lol....Well...my poor hubby has trouble bending or crouching (arthritis) but I'll see if I can convince him to talk baby talk to her.  I'll just promise not to tell anyone, lol.  We've always had big dogs and never had this issue before so I'm thinking it must just be his size. (??).  He is a big man.  Thanks for replying!  :)

Maybe he will have to ignore her until he can sit  on a couch or something and then when she approaches him close enough to get a treat she gets one. I would not "push it" let her do this on her own time but ONLY when she actually approaches him and gets close enough should she get a "reward" bring it in closer each time. If not the treat goes away! If he has a great smelling treat that she really wants it should work after abit...
