What is it about the night time that brings out a whole different side of my puppy (5 months). After 8pm she pees in the house at least once and plays in her water bowl. She's not afraid to go outside after dark or anything. She's in an out all night, and she never poos inside. She just pees right in front of the doggy door or sliding glass door (which are right next to each other). She does great all day long. WTH? And the water dish playing. She gets water EVERYWHERE cause it's one of those water dispensers with the jug on top, so it's like and almost never ending supply of water. She's just all around ornery after 8pm. Does anyone else have this problem? Any suggestions?

Could it be reflections? My pups have often had trouble with "other puppy" who lives in the mirrors, oven door, and other reflective surfaces. Does "other puppy" make her pee at the glass door at night? And my nutty rescue has issues with light reflections. For him it's in the daytime when the sun shines in, but could your pup be seeing the indoor lights off the water dish? These things have always been significant in our house, with various dogs. Consider it.

Wow, that's interesting. I never would have thought about that. She has barked at nothing at the sliding glass door before... or at least I thought it was nothing. I will try closing the vertical blinds after dark (we always just leave them open this time of year). I'll see if that makes a difference. As far as reflections in the water dish, I highly doubt it. The lights are always off in that room, so there wouldn't be any sort of reflection. She loves playing in water, but for some reason she thinks she gets to play in her drinking water at night. I have no idea what that behavior is about. Thanks so much for your input Julia.

Abby doesn't like reflections either. We have a large bank of floor to ceiling windows, and at night - if we haven't closed the blinds - she will sit on the ottoman and stare at that end of the room, giving little growly barks and acting anxious. Once we close the blinds, she's fine.
I have this too! Rowdy likes to bark uncontrollably after 9pm. He's usually really quiet, it's like he knows he shouldn't! I'm in an apartment so I'm REALLY nervous he'll get us in trouble. Usually I stick him in the pitch dark bathroom for about 5-10 mins for a "time out" and when he comes out, he's mellowed out and chills on the couch with his chew toy.
It could be boredom,  in the evening my husband and I are usually watching TV so Quin would do all kinds of naughty stuff like... pay attention to me.  So at 8  play a long game of fetch or tug of war just something to wear her out a little:)
Ginger is 8 months old and gets really onery around 9.  She'll just bark and bark.  She doesn't want to play, she doesn't want a treat or chewy, she doesn't want to go outside.  She just carries on and on.  We have finally learned that when she starts acting like that, she's tired and wants to go to bed.  Unfortunately, like a kid, she won't just go lay down or crawl into her kennel.  We have to turn everything off and tell her it's night-night time before she'll put herself to bed.  It drives me mad and  I'm hoping she'll grow out of it eventually, but she's been like this ever since we brought her home.

Abby does this too occasionally. She will bark and bark (sometimes sticking her head under a couch pillow while barking), leaping around, frapping and zooming around the room and onto and around the furniture, or laying on her side and doing whole body barks. Then she crashes. Its like a little kid that's really tired but resisting it, like you said. Too funny!

For the water bowl, maybe you should elevate it a few inches so it's harder for her to get her paws into it easily.
