I'm pretty confused- I have googled this and googled this and have a vet appointment in a few days regardless, but I'm curious as to what this is.
I don't think it is reverse sneezing because it isn't forceful and he lays down when he does it... and it's seemingly random.

You know that sound the blood pressure cuff makes when you get it pumped up? It's that odd sound. He just got his vaccines last Saturday, so could this be it? He doesn't hack, or cough, just this pathetic little weezing sound while he is on the floor. And he acts like his normal healthy self too.

We keep it pretty cold in here, could that be it too? It didn't start happening until Monday, though.

Any ideas would be nice.
Thanks.

Vet gave him a clean bill of health and said it was just reverse sneezing and it's nothing to worry about. Thanks for your help everyone!
Mimi does this also. It always scares me to death. She woke herself up last night doing it. It's like croup with a young child. My other corgi has never done it. I just talk to her and sooth her while it's going on, usually for a minute.
I found a lot of very useful information on your web page. It is obvious that you are Corgi fans. Bandit is our first Corgi and life with him is great. Thanks again for all of the great information and for sharing with newbies.
This "huffing" has only happened to Bandit when he goes into a barking frenzy. And it doesn't happen with every barking episode. I asked my vet and he said that it was probably just a dry tickle in his throat.
Now I have a name for it! Our first corgi, Odie, never did it, but the first night we had Lucky he started and it seemed to go on forever! I thought we were going to lose him the first night we had him. I called my friend who had brought him from the rescue in Nevada (she had 2 corgis herself) and she had never heard of it either. For awhile I thought he was doing it when he had been snuffling up "corgi bunnies" from wherever he had been herding the cat! Our new rescue, Sonny, doesn't do it (yet). It reminds me of my asthma attacks or our kids with croup, and I just try to sooth him (yeah, with Sonny climbing all over us!) These corgis, they have so many "quirky traits"!
Id say reverse sneezing, neeka did it a ton when she was a puppy now its less. I usually put my finger over her nose and she stops although she gives me a look like im killing her when i do it..
