If you're looking for a theme for the 6, I like the idea of all color names, or all flower names, or all gemstone/mineral names =) A lot of these overlap ;)

Well...we are animal and book lovers. I have a 6 yr old so we read lots of SKIPPYJONJONES books(a cat who wants to be a dog) anyway here's some character names from the book.....SKIPPY, JON, JU-JU BEE, JILLY BOO, JEZEBEL, JUNEBUG!!! HA HA HA! That's what we would do if we had new puppies. Have fun naming them.
I like it when the names are cute, and people tend to have them match. The ones I have seen that were cute but not terribly original were named after characters from winnie the pooh. I LOVE the books and so I loved the names.

I like human names, and I like flowers, so names like Rosemary, Sage, Lilly, Violet, Rose, Basil, Pepper, are all nice from my point of view. But that is just me. Many of them work as both human names and herbs/flowers. Just a thought.
I think it's funny when a dog has a really plain human name like this little Dachshund puppy I met named Carl. It fit him perfectly. It's usually with boy names though like Phil, Ted, Norm; I can't think of any girl names that work the same way.
I like human names for dogs too! My first Corgi was named Pete. We got him unexpectedly and driving back home I just looked at him in the back seat and said "I think his name is Pete." Even though Pete has since passed on, my family will still mistakenly call Peanut "Pete". And when we got Peanut one of our friends wanted us to name him Repeat!
You could also do a classic/great writer theme using first or last names. Here are some last names:
Shelley, Bronte, Christie, Swift, Poe, Byron, Aesop, Dante, Emerson, Plato, Doyle
Bissell, Dyson, Eureka, Hoover, Miele, Roomba... I don't think "Electrolux" would make it though....
(inspired by that corgi behavior, "hoovering")
LOL, how fitting!
