12 year old Nimbus needs a new home, hopefully in the Austin TX area. He is utd on vaccinations, heartworm negative, does well with other pets & children. May need some potty training as he has mostly been an outside dog.

His owner is a student & will be working full time & is worried that he won't have the time to give Nimbus the attention he deserves. And will be moving into a 3rd story apartment.

I have posted him in 4 facebook groups & have had more negative, judgemental, hateful comments than I've ever seen in my life & never expected from Corgi people. I have had only 1 offer for adoption, but she's in TN. It would be a great fit for him, but I dont know how we will get him there. His owner would like Nimbus to be close enough that he can visit him sometimes, but if not, he just wants him to be in a happy home.

I am doing this as a favor to someone that posted in a meetup group; I dont want this senior dog goung to a shelter. He arrives in Austin in 3 days. If we cant find a home by then, I will try fostering him. I am worried that my 11 month pup won't be a good fit with a Sr. dog. My pup does well playing with other dogs, but I'm not sure he will want to 'share' his home. Plus, he may be a nuissance to an older, laid-back dog.

Can anyone offer suggestions?

There  is an organization called Pilots-N-Paws that helps transport rescue dogs across the Country.  The senior dog may qualify if you have  a good home in Tennessee.  Here is the link:

http://www.pilotsnpaws.org/guidelines/guidelines-for-rescues/

There are also people willing to participate in a "chain" of transport for a rescue in need.  As long as he has a temporary home, there is hope to work things out for him.  As for the housebreaking, dogs that have been mostly outdoors generally learn not to eliminate indoors quickly ( if trained like you would train a puppy) because going indoors is totally foreign to them.

Your own pup may do fine with the older dog after the "newness" wears off.  Don't feel too bad about the replies you got from other people, it is hard to see  senior dogs lose their home when there are very few options open to them.  Blessings to you for taking the situation of this dog to heart.   Best wishes.

Anna thank you so much for the pilots n paws info, I'm going to look into that further. The girl in TN would like to test him as a therapy dog for elderly patients, & she's getting her Masters in a veterinarian field, AND she has a Corgi that would 'love a playmate'...all in all, it sounds like a great life for any dog!

Thank you for your kind words and encouragement! I've never done anything like this; I purposely keep myself away from 'drama' & Facebook, so I expected a little negativity...but this much really caught me by surprise.

Thanks again!

Too bad he's so far from MN as I just had a request for someone who really wanted an older Corgi.

Such a love...hope he finds a forever home soon!
