I'm in love!!  I splurged yesterday and bought a Shark Vac-N-Steam after debating for quite awhile.  I looked at reviews, and decided I'd try it.  WOW!  If you guys are looking for a quick and very easy way to vacuum up corgi hair and then mop away little muddy paw prints--this is it.  We have all hard-wood/tile floors, and this thing is awesome....I'm so happy I found a very easy way to keep up with the mess!!

sounds cool...do you have a link for it. I would eventually like to get a steam vac for my floors.

I've been debating getting one.  I wouldn't use it on our hardwood because it's not pre-finished and as the house settles, cracks open up between the boards and then you would have exposed wood on the sides of the boards.  However, we have tile and no-wax vinyl.

I have gotten conflicting information on whether or not it's safe for the vinyl, which is why I hesitate.

How is it on tile?  Does it do an ok job on the grout?

The following is from the manufactuer's FAQ

"It can be used on all sealed hard floor surfaces – including sealed hardwood, linoleum, ceramic tile, or marble and other stone floors. Note that we do not suggest use of this product on unsealed surfaces, such as unfinished hardwood, unglazed ceramic floors, or unsealed stone floors.

On surfaces that have been treated with wax or some no wax floors, the sheen may be removed by the heat and steam action. We recommend testing an isolated area of the surface to be cleaned before proceeding.

We recommend that you check the use and care instructions from the floor manufacturer."

Thanks Sam!.  That's what I was afraid of, and we only have tile downstairs in the hallway; the upstairs bathrooms are easy enough to clean.   And our hardwood is the traditional kind that's installed and sanded on site, then finished with polyurethane;  water is its enemy.

Much as I like the thought of them, I think it's probably not worth it for the tiny strip of floor we would use it on.

I got it from Wal-Mart.  It does awesome on the tile...
you had me going there for a minute... If you read the short into to this comment I thought the rest would read "... very easy way to clean your corgi..."   I'm thinking steam + dog == very bad thing...
