"I've had 3 corgis.  2 male red headed tri's and another male - a red, Jake.  Out of the 3, all of whom were fixed, Jake is the only one with that habit.  He's now almost 7y/o and still going strong.  The only…"

"Yes.  Actually I can't imagine only having one to begin with anyway, but yes they do.   Currently the two we have is a red head tri and a red.  The red, Jake, is faster to get the ball so the tri, Duffy, will try to herd…"

"IMHO, that's going to be a black headed tri and not much tri at that.  However, if you look at my pictures of Arthur (a red headed tri I had) he's markings did become more extensive as he grew olders."

"We've had 7 corgis across our family.  All but two have been pemmies.  I've had 3. The red, Jake, our 2nd, was around 24lbs until 5y/o then went up to 26/27lbs where he is now at 7y/o.  He's always been a lighter boned…"

"There could be a variety of reasons. For my Chucky, when he was losing tufts of fur with some skin attached, I noticed that his coat was dry and dull.  I remember my first reaction (besides the mild heart attack) was "What the F*** is…"

About Me:
We are both retired. To date we've had 5 corgies, both Welsh and Cardigans, across our family members. After owning German Shepards, Dach's, mixed, etc I cannot imagine having a different breed.

About My Corgi(s):
I got Arthur from a local animal shelter at 1 year old. He is now 9 y/o. Jake, the red, we got from an add in the local paper. He's not a pure corgi but a great dog! Jake doesn't have a mean bone is his body and is ALWAYS ready to go.

Looking for another corgi....

Posted on May 30, 2012 at 2:02am 2 Comments

Now that is has been awhile since we lost Arthur, we're looking for another.  All of our pets have been rescued.  Breeders are nice we just can't afford that path.  We'd really like a dog young and healthy enough to play with our other corgi - Jake.

Quincy is my first Corgi, in the past I have had 2 huskies.  After Quincy I will never have another breed.  They are wonderful!!  Yes, I know what you mean about the connection Q is my little buddy!  Quincy tries to herd people if they are running but likes to herd his basketball in the yard (only ball he can't pop) the most.  He does do the bah bah bark to say hi to people my friends think it is cute and encourage him to do it.  Some strangers we meet on walks/hikes don't appreciate the bah bah and take it as he is not friendly... oh well their loss...
