Does anyone have any advice or experiences to share about corgi shedding. Our Jinger sheds like crazy and I've been told that it's only going to get worse. We brush her before and after her baths with a special brush (Top Paw) that's supposed to remove the undercoat. There is hair everywhere! I feel like I'm vacuuming or picking up hair off the floor every day. After I hold her or play with her I have to use the lint roller on my entire body! Are there vitamins I can give her to help with this issue?

Kevan makes a good point. Sidney only gets a bath two or three times a year. He doesn't really need the bath, but he's a therapy dog and we like to freshen him up every now and then. He never smells bad. Maybe the fact that we rarely bathe him is why his coat is so good.
Geri , what therapy program are you in? they must have different rules..
Love on a Leash. The rule is more flexible when it comes to bathing. Plus, we don't go to hospitals; we go to libraries and Universities.
We live in hot south Texas and bathing is a necessity , like it or not . I use a oatmeal shampoo , neither dog has any dandruff or allergy's and they shed like crazy but hey i just adjusted my life..I vacuum every 2 to 3 days and i brush them often. Yes my cloths are full of hair as we speak . lol
Frankie will have to be bathed within 24 hrs each time we go for a pet therapy visits, (when he becomes a therapy dog).. in the rules, that could be as much as twice a month. He has to be very clean to go in the hospital. I use cooler water and dont dry with dryer , when i do it .. They both go to a groomer s every 6weeks..
Thanks everyone for all the advice and ideas. It's interesting to hear how so many of us with the same breed dog have such difference experiences with shedding. Maybe it does just differ by the dog or has a genetic component. After reading all your posts I realized I am bathing Jinger too much. It's true about the corgi coat - it's always pretty and never smells. With that being said, we did take Jinger to Petsmart for a professional grooming that including a moisturizing conditioner and a brushing with the Furminator. It isn't cheap so my husband and I decided that if we didn't see a difference in the shedding after we would not do it again. We just figured it wouldn't hurt to try, and that maybe a professional groom with a good blow might help.
We picked Jinger up a little while ago and we already notice a difference! Her hair is not coming off nearly as much when we pet her. Big clumps of it used to gather on her bottom when we would run our hands down her back, and that is not happening now. I don't know if this will last, but it is certainly a wonderful change! If we continue to see less shedding, we will probably take her back every couple of months. I'll let you all know if it lasts - I hope!!!
Lint roller, hardwood floors, leather chairs or coverings, Vac daily, slowly learn when you have eaten too much corgi hair. It also cuts your friends coming over all the time, till they get used to the fur. Love em with all your heart, because thats what they are doing for you.
