My husband and I are at a loss. Peanut (7years old, adopted at 3.5) attacks my husbands feet ONLY when he's wearing his black work shoes. If he has bare feet or socks she'll pull up short once she realizes the shoes aren't on. She started this about 4 months ago. At first it was once in a while.. now his feet seem to be free game. He said she even put a hole in the side of one shoe. She doesn't exhibit any other aggressive behavior at the time... Just lunges at the shoes once or twice.. then backs off. She does this with the black vacuum cleaner as well, but she's always on a lead when i vacuum for my sanity. Peanut and Joe have issues with who's above who in pack mentality. No matter what I do I can not get Joe to see that things he does have made him appear below her in pack mentality. I don't know if this is part of the issue.

any ideas on what could trigger a sudden shoe fetish? how would you resolve this?

hmm I don't know, but my Gibson does the same thing to me when I'm wearing slippers. He thinks they are his toys I think? He does not do it to my husband or anyone else.
Must be some kind of scent on his shoes that drives him crazy. Are they new shoes?
not at all. in fact they are due to be replaced soon.

do you think using a bitter apple or something like that may deter her? its hard to predict when she's in shoe attack mode.

oh and she does this on no pair of shoes of mine and I have a lot of black shoes, lol
I had a pair of work boots that had screws in the sole as well as stitched, when these wore down one of the screws began to click on hard surface, I didn't notice it for quite a while till i was in a extremely quite enviroment.Could this be the case?
no, our entire house is carpeted ( even the kitchen - blech), and these shoes are just regular sneakers in black. I'll have to have him put a white pair on and see if she does it then.
wow carpeted kitchen! i wouldn't know what to do with that, i am the drop master. lol. that is interesting, i'll have to keep track of your social experiment!
we rent and our landlord is changing. I've specifically asked for a new floor in the kitchen that is NOT carpet..I'll even help install. They were funny when I told them that as they were not aware it was carpeted. It will also be good as I tend to mark when Peanut has to get her nails clipped.

we have a tiny entryway and when I hear her tap dancing there is when I remember. With a bigger floor I should hear her more often, lol
I hate to say this but I am convinced Corgi's love stink feet. Lily will lick my husbands feet like crazy and forever after he comes in from work. I mean she can lick for hours! But as soon as he jumps in the shower and gets clean feet she wants nothing to do with them. She will walk over and sniff and walk away
Must go hand-in-hand with the sock thing I've noticed:
