OK! I just got my new puppy yesterday (and got to drive for another 4 hours home :P).

We were very tired and bought the cheapest baby gate we could find. However it's not long enough to cut off the kitchen from the rest of the room, so we put up a box right next to the gate and made sure that it's sturdy. It held without any problem.

However, I think my puppy is a little too smart, haha. He was able to take down our set-up within an hour (and also rip apart my fiance's book cover), and he's most likely taken down our most recent try to set up a sturdy gate.

I asked someone from PetCo and he said to try getting a better gate and changing the screws out to be better ones, but the problem is that we live in an apartment and we can't put screws into the cabinets. Does anyone have any other ideas that I could try?

there are plastic ones that just use tension as you expand them and you don't have to put anything in the walls. hopefully you can find one! i think we had found ours at walmart
oh and just so you know... you are just at the start of smart!!! :) they just get smarter and smarter but that is half the fun of a corgi! enjoy your little one!
I don't know the set up nor the size of the area you need block off but you could also go w/ex pens and cut them down to use as gates. You could just order extra panels and they are in a variety of sizes.
Get the plastic gates. And don't go to PetSmart for the so-called "Pet Gates" when you can get them cheaper at WalMart or Target. Only difference is that they're called "Baby Gates" :)
Yes, go to Target/Walmart, etc. Look in the baby section - you'll find what you're looking for. We bought a metal one made by Evenflo for bailey. It comes with extensions, too. They work just as, if not, more effectively than a "pet" gate sold at any petstore.
