Well if you reseed the lawn, wouldn't you end up having to put down mulched straw anyway?  I'm fairly certain you'd have to put down the seed, then fertilizer and finally a layer of mulched hay to help keep moisture in the soil.  If you do seed the lawn, though, you'll want to make sure you use a hardy grass that is more likely to survive the constant pitter-patter of those little corgi paws.

The only other option that I know of would be to buy sod, and I'm willing to bet the corgis would end up pulling it up all the time.  ;)

Honestly I think your only options are to reseed the whole thing and keep the dogs off of it for a while, or sod. Could you maybe do half at a time? Put up some temporary cheap fencing to keep them in one area while the other half grows maybe.

That picture was not what I expected.  Wow!  I can see the appeal though.  I was thinking of how our yard has disappeared.  Not because of hay but it is just a sad shadow of what it once was.  Logan has mulch, fire wood and toys everywhere.  The idea of doing the big clean up is not very exciting to me now.  We got our tomato plants in last weekend and I noticed today a lot of tiny little dog prints all around them.  In my experience, corgis have the opposite of a green thumb!

Snickers seems to think a temporary fence is a new entertainment; see how fast you can get past it. We had to rototill our yard because it was compacted so badly the grass roots couldn't get through the dirt, then we had to get rid of a bunch of dirt so there would be room to add mulch without it getting higher than the patio and then rototill that in. We then put down sod and closed the dog run gate. The dogs only get to go on the lawn for brief periods. Our yard is too small for good ball play, so that wasn't a big issue. We no longer have boredom digging and animal trails from them patroling the yard. Plus with 3 dogs and a small yard the brown pee spots were too much. The dog run is not a perfect solution, but they spend most of the time in the house and we use Pine-sol to try to keep the smell down.

  We've found all Our corgis have set paths around Our yard.We've been in this home since 1986,4 corgis,2 boxers and 1 shihtzu through all those years,the corgis were the worse to ruin the yard.The corgis who moved in with Us,set up paths along the fence lines,under big bushes(where we found bones buried there when We relandscaped)and over the waterfall hill by the pond.The 2 boxers,We pulled out the lawn completely and landscaped with new sidewalks and cottage gardens around the pond area.They needed a racetrack to stretch out those long legs :)>.Now,We have 2 corgis again.Well,the paths are back,down the fence lines,under the tree on the waterfall hill etc.Always patrolling their yard :).These are not  boredom trails.The 2 get usually at least a 1 mile walk each day.
