Help! I can't believe it's the end of November and we're STILL having TICK issues! I have both Callie and Cooper on Comfortis which of course is only to help with fleas but I REALLY don't like using the Spot On products the way they play and are in water constantly! Anybody have any ideas?

To the best of my knowledge, it's spot-on or nothing for ticks.

Thanks for the response Beth...yeah that's what I'm afraid of. At least in our area there have been comments about even that not working as well... at least the Frontline Plus( and that comes from our Dr. who sells the Frontline Plus). I just have concerns with the spot on because both Callie and Coop literally hang off each other necks etc and they both are total water'd think they were Labs! Well it just snowed here last night so maybe we'll get thru for now...thanks again

Advantix works really well for ticks in areas where Frontline does not. I know advantage is not waterproof, but  Advantix is. Franklin swims everyday and generally the frontline will last about 3 weeks with daily swimming before I start seeing evidence of fleas. We don't  have a tick problem where I live so not sure how well it works on ticks. Advantix is toxic to cats, so if you have cats keep them seperated for 24-48 hours until the area where it was applied is allowed to dry. As for your dogs licking it off each other, just apply it at night before bed and usually by morning it will have dried sufficiently so it won't be a problem. Also keep the dogs out of the water for at least 24 hours after applying the frontline or advantage. If we could come up with a safe oral tick control boy would we be rich! I know I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

This year has been good for us not many fleas. I dont know what we are doing right.
